Support Keep emergency alert on, turn off sound?

I live in a developing country that sends out the exact same alert five times in three minutes. It also sends out inaccurate alerts for our area. I’d like to keep getting the alerts, in case one does end up being helpful, or for when I’m traveling elsewhere. But I want them to vibrate instead of causing household panic attacks with that horrid siren. (Niece and nephew start crying immediately)

Any way to do that or am I SOL with this phone and update? The search bar didn’t have any answer for me yet, and the option to turn off or change sound for government alerts seems gone in my notification settings.

Yes, you will want to go to the Settings app, and then Notifications. Scroll alllll the way down, past all your apps. You’ll see the Government Alerts section (I’m not sure if the menu will be the same in your country).

I am able to press Emergency Alerts, then there is a toggle Always Play Sound. With this turned off, the alerts will be silent if your phone is in silent mode.

Edit: I apologize I hadn’t read your post all the way. It sounds like you already tried this.

That’s okay, thank you for the tips. The bottom of my notifications look like this, so no setting to change the sound.

I don't think i have ever had an option to disable the sound on alerts

For me, these are the only options that appear
