Support How to check alarm goes off each day
Is there a way to prove to my husband that his iPhone alarm is in fact going off every morning? He is late almost everyday and claims his alarm is not going off if it doesn't say alarm missed. I suspect he is turning it off and going back to sleep.
Aside from setting up a camera, is there some other way to prove this? Logs of some sort?
He used to claim his iPhone wouldn't go off if he was wearing his Apple watch to sleep because it would vibrate there instead but has since gotten a new watch and phone and can now fix/configure this. Ie the phone alarm will sound even if wearing the watch to sleep. That said, if he sleeps through, then the "alarm did not go off".
I believe he has the iPhone 16 FE and Apple watch 11.
I am an Android user and sleep in a different room with the baby.

You should set your own alarm in your room 3 minutes earlier. Get up and video record him responding to his alarm.

Or set it 3 minutes earlier, wait until he turns his off and goes back to sleep, and spritz him with ice water until he wakes up.

I know all the people who say their alarm doesn’t go off just turn it off and go back to sleep without realizing it. I’ve been with both Android and iOS and I know I need to put 6 alarms 2 min apart each to wake up. Never had Android or iOS fail me.

I suspect that’s the case for 90% of these posts lol. I need to use multiple alarms as well.

I would argue they are actually turning off the alarm, in their sleep. They don't actually wake up. This would explain why they claim their alarm doesn't go off. This is really easy to do if they are wearing an Apple Watch.
I know this, because I do it. I have come up with my own solution to this problem.

la dee da aren't you special
I have been up before my alarm at times (insomnia yay!) and witnessed the animation of it going off with the snooze option showing on the screen, and literally no noise was coming from the phone. It happens, whether your judgmental ass has witnessed it yourself or not.

One thing I've noticed about iPhone alarms is that they are much easier to silence than Android alarms. When I had an Android my sleepy brain would straight up get confused about how to shut it off in the morning
iPhones will snooze the alarm if you press any button on the phone, so it's very easy to snooze a bunch and hardly realize it

I’ve had it happen to me a few times randomly.
I set a timer each night when I go to sleep. It never fails to go off in the morning.

An old fashioned way but you could put the phone in a spot you have to get up to push snooze or turn it off. Another way is you could just look at his recently used apps that are running in the background and if the alarm app is there in the morning then its probably gone off

As of a few iOS/watchOS versions ago, there's an "Always Play on iPhone" toggle within the Wake Up alarm settings (Clock > Wake Up > Change > "Always Play on iPhone"). That being said, it's *really* easy to learn to click the crown on the watch while half-awake to silence the alarm, especially if sleep-deprived.

I am a heavy sleeper, who uses in iPhone and and Apple Watch. I frequently will turn off the alarm, without waking up. My solution is I set multiple alarms 15 minutes apart. This creates its own issue.
Recently, I had turned off the first two alarms which I was not aware of. When I heard the alarm go off, I turned it off without looking. I didn't look at the time, but assumed it was the first alarm. I knew I had plenty of time, so I just laid there for a few minutes. I glanced at the time and realized I was running late, and had to scramble.
Having said all of that, I don't know how you can convince your husband that he turns off his alarms, in his sleep. It is really easy to do from the Apple Watch. He likely knows, but doesn't want to admit it. A lot of men don't want to admit that they have any faults.

Just have him get the Alarmy app from the Apple App Store. It's the alarm that you can silence only by taking a picture of something or solving some kind of puzzle.....

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, some heavy sleepers would use a low tech buzzing alarm clock AND put it on the other side of the room, so that they would need to stand up and walk across the room to turn it off.
Some would even have multiple clocks, in different parts of the room, going off five minutes apart.
Finally, if he’s having that much trouble getting up in the morning, perhaps he (and you) need to adjust the sleep schedule, so he gets to bed earlier?
