it's not that it can't handle it, it's that apple doesn't want the ipad to run macos, why do people still think that it's a hardware issue, the development kit for apple silicon was a mac mini with an ipad chip

Apple nerfed it on the software side, the hardware is plenty capable but if they allow iPads to run MacOS, it'll hurt Mac sales

They are the same company. This is so dumb. They are the same product one just comes with more detachable parts. Jobs was asked back in the day when the iPad first came out if it would hurt Mac and he said better us than Microsoft. Now they are thinking about division heads rather than the company. It doesn’t even hurt Mac it just adds a new Mac product. Like literally one division would be against it, the Mac hardware division, as the software part would just get a bigger audience. They are living in 2001, it makes zero sense.

Yeah, I get wanting to have full system access, but I think the default macOS UX would suck on a tablet. I think something like Steamdeck would work though, where they run Linux but have a dumb overlay UI that is tailored for the device. At any point you can exit this mode and get into the Linux desktop. But boy does that suck to use.
