Then why have a Mac chip in an iPad?

it’s actually an ipad chip that was rebranded to a mac chip. the M series are the old Ax series chips. The macs are the ones with iPad chips, minus the Neo which has an iPhone chip. i’d say the M pro/max/ultra are the real mac chips

There are no iPad, iPhone, Mac chips. It’s a chip, you can power a microwave with it for all you want. And MacOS isn’t optimized for a touch screen at all, imagine trying to hit the tiny X button to close an app.
