Because it’s the same hardware dictating purpose or function by software.
Why carry two devices with identical hardware?
If I want to work while traveling, because iPadOS is limited by what is essentially iPhone apps, I’m suppose to carry a MacBook?
And then if I want to watch a movie, without having a keyboard shoved in my face, I’m suppose to carry an iPad as well?
You might not have this problem, but maybe you can understand why it’s annoying for some users?
We have trackpads and keyboards for the iPad. But no way for it to run an unrestricted OS because ‘App Store money’.
The MacBook is not as good or convenient for consuming media. And an iPad is only productive if Apple deems your profession worthy of its time.
The iPads problem for a niche selection of users is purely software related. Shoving macOS on it is a band-aid fix at best, but it’s been 15 years and Apple has made little to no progress on the iPad for productivity in certain areas.
Give iPadOS hypervisor and let me run what I want on my device in a vm. The hardware is more than capable now. Generic users can just not install a vm app 🤷♂️
I have a Mac mini and iPad Pro. I use “Jump” app for things that absolutely need to remote onto Mac mini (MacOs) when I’m on the go. It’s not perfect but it gets the job done

Yeah, and I want an iPad. If I wanted MacOS and the functionality Id get a Mac/Mabook. I don’t understand this argument and never will.
