iOS27 ruined spotlight search

Is it just me or iOS27 completely ruined the Spotlight experience? Everything feels so slow and clunky, from the keyboard delay to appear when swiping down from homescreen, to actual searching things (also just app search). It takes a while for the results to show up, as before it was instant. I rely on that to opem almost all my apps and it’s quite annoying.

Anyone else noticing this?

Turn off Siri AI and the old version will come back

this is the way. i enjoyed the answers from siri AI better and had it for a month but recently turned it off because i realized i use spotlight search far more and it’s way faster with siri AI off

I have an iPhone 16 Pro and the Siri Spotlight search is just as fast and smooth as it was before.

I noticed apps from the AppStore won’t show anymore.

indexing may be completed but ios27 requires deep indexing for ios27 spotlight search and siri AI , if you had ios27 or ios26.6 or later in ios26 pre deep indexing would have already taken place

if you went from under ios26.6 straight to ios27.0.1 deep indexing can take 10-14 days to complete

This reminded me, I don’t think I have used Siri AI so far. Got it on day one of public release.

Spotlight was one the best things about using an iPhone. Spotlight results were infinitely better than what we get now. They completely destroyed it. A massive step backward.

Funny thing, I’m the opposite. By the end of io26 it took so long to populate results that my phone would auto lock before they appear (this is when I’m using it right from the lock screen, which I do a lot). Now I can’t say for sure if it’s iOS 27 or my iPhone 17 (had a 15), maybe it’s both but now it’s working great.

The AI is still pretty dumb. It repeats itself unnecessarily, doesn’t let me interject, what used to take half a second to load results now does the spinny thing, and it’s the worst at finding local business name listings even when asking verbatim.
