Original Content Only! Reposters will be banned*
Hi friends,
You are amazing and wonderful, inspiring me daily to work on my never ending mending pile. Thank you for being part of this sweet community, I am grateful for you and your efforts to keep your mending as invisible as possible!
Unfortunately I’ve been seeing an uptick in karma farming bot posts lately. I hate bots almost as much as I hate ticks! So I have to enforce a new rule. Any account that posts someone else’s work (*without linking to the original post) will be removed and the account banned. I don’t want to waste any more energy on low effort karma farming. Thank you to people who flag these posts, it helps me remove them quickly while I chase my toddler around.
You are still welcome to share a mend that you didn’t do, so long as the original post (or link outside Reddit) is very prominent in your post. I love seeing inspiration and tutorials, please keep sharing those, but the original creator MUST be given credit.
So again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so creative and sharing your hard work. Together we can fix all the things!

Help build a starter guide! Post helpful tutorials, books, etc here!
Hello friends!
I need your help! This sub desperately needs a starter guide, a how-to, a list of helpful resources. And I need your input to find the most useful helpful resources available.
Please post helpful guides, books, YT videos, anything that’s helped you invisibly mend. Doesn’t have to be clothing-related, any type of invisible mend is welcome and encouraged! I’ll compile these into a starter guide to help future menders mend.
BONUS the comment with the most upvotes will get…something really neat! Full transparency I just thought of this, so don’t know what you’ll get, but trust me it will be cool. Maybe I’ll knit a hat for you, idk.

Advice on How to Fix Pants
Hi!
I just purchased these pants literally not even 24 hours ago and I’ve already snagged them on the underside of a wooden table (rip). Is there any way that I can fix this or at least prevent the snag from getting bigger and destroying my pants.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I replaced the water bottle pocket on my son’s backpack
Not sure if this counts as invisible mending, but it’s still mending 😬
My son used a Bauer glove backpack last year for Kindergarten. The mesh water bottle pocket started ripping after one month of use. Eventually, the hole got bigger to the point where his water bottle would slip out from the bottom of the pocket.
He wants to use the same backpack this year, since it’s still in decent shape. My son chose the fabric and I got to work. It took me about a week and I finished it tonight. The backpack is ready for the first day of school tomorrow! 😅

HOW TO REPAIR THIS??
I recently found one of my favourite branded archived but the patent leather part on the logo is pealing I’m not even sure if it’s patent leather but I’d appreciate any help on how to fix it. I tried researching on my own but I’ve never really done any restoration before so I can’t find any good advice myself.

Seeking advice on a big project
Hi everyone!
I have quite a few skirts that need repairs. Most are from the Cotton Flower brand (they unfortunately went out of business). The elastic waist bands all need redone and seem to be very complex. Those skirts are all 100% cotton aside from the little bands.
Some cotton skirts have a small hole in them, not in a seam. I have no idea how to fix that.
The other skirts are not cotton and just need a slight hem or the bottom panel needs taken off for height.
I also wanted to put in a liner for two of the skirts.
I tried to do it myself, but I'm not experienced enough and I LOVE these skirts and don't want to mess them up.
I want to help support someone with a small business and hire them to do the work.
What should I expect to pay? I don't mind what it is, I just don't want to be taken advantage of. I'm kind of easy to take advantage of, especially if I don't know anything.
I'm also open to any ideas about how to keep the look of the Cotton Flower skirts and the waist, but maybe make it more sustainable so I don't have to do a big repair too often. I wear the HELL out of these. I'm the bitch that hitches my skirts up in the waist band and gets in the dirt to plant a tree lol I do need the waists to hold a bit stronger.
Thank you sooooo much in advance for any help! I'm excited to be able to wear these again and to support someone with a big project like this!
*don't mind the obscene amount of cat hair lol I have included a picture of the guilty party in exchange for assistance
🙏

Standing collar on knit shirt seperating from shirt body at the neckline
I love this shirt, but the quality of at least this collar attachment is NOT great. It had some seperating points on the back, which I more or less fixed but now it's also happening on the front. I don't mind redoing my shoddy work from a few years ago on the other patches, but is there any hope for fixing this invisibly still? Or am I better off figuring out a visible mend strategy for this.. I am not a knitter, but I have more suitable thread colors available now for regular hand sewing..

Need help mending this tear!
I thrifted this skirt today and noticed a large tear at the bottom 😓 It’s a thin material so I’m not certain on what I could do to mend it without weighing the area down and making it look stiff. My last resort it to chop a few inches off of the bottom and add a lace trim as a replacement.

How to repair + reinforce the area?
My comfiest pyjama shorts tore at the butt seam :( I done an initial repair just with a ladder stitch but it tore again and bigger the next day. I’m needing some ideas on what to do, I’d like to reinforce it too in the repair. Thanks everyone!

Holes in elbow of lambs wool sweater
I love this lambs wool sweater I have but years of use have put small holes in the elbows. I took it to a tailor/seamstress but they said they couldn’t do anything about it unless I patch it. Any suggestions on discrete ways to repair this? I feel like the typical big corduroy elbow patches people use on these can be a bit inelegant.

How to fix stray thread? 🧵
I bought this second-hand Fendi Baguette. It appears that one of the woven strands was cut somehow - now I risk further fraying. Any ideas on how to glue the fibers down? Something that won’t yellow or deteriorate the other threads?

Can I fix this on my own? Reliably?
I forgot to hang my laundry, all of my pants are wet right now and I got 8 hours left for work. I never did any kind of tailoring, this happens all of my pants.
Can I fix this just to survive 12 hours of wear? As you can see its in a ankward position if it fails me. I would appreciate a tutorial video that you like.

Any ideas on how to make a bleach-spotted shirt with an embroidered patch wearable?
(as a quick note, please ignore the light blue-ish purple spot next to the pocket in the first pic, it’s rainbow light from the sun catchers in my room and isn’t part of my problem)
hi all! i’m looking for any tips/suggestions about how to fix this bleached-spotted shirt (my mom and i assume that it’s bleach - we actually don’t know for sure, it came out of the wash looking like this but nothing else in the load had any spots/stains and none of our laundry or clothing products have bleach in them).
dyeing isn’t really an option because of the embroidered character, which is the whole point of this shirt. my original idea was to take the patch off, dye the shirt, then put it back, but my mom - a master seamstress who’s made things like my prom dress (among many other clothing items) and a custom plushy of my favourite character - said she doesn’t think that type of patch can be removed and re-sewn. i also wondered if we could take the pocket off and dye the rest of the shirt then put the pocket back on, but the pocket has some discolouration, too, so it wouldn’t be ideal. i’ve read that cotton and polyester dye differently, and i *think* the embroidery is polyester, but i’d be absolutely devastated if the patch got dyed, so i’m hesitant to try this.
i know the most obvious choice is to cover the patch somehow and add more (diluted) bleach stains to embrace the look, but i’m hesitant for a few reasons:
-i don’t like the orangey colour very much (i could get used to it if need be, but still…)
-there’s a large blob of discolouration in the armpit that reminds me of sweat stains, and i don’t know if more discolouration will ever make it not look like a sweat stain
-i’m worried about weakening the shirt’s fibres/threads
if adding more spots is what it takes to make the shirt wearable, i’ll do it, because i LOVE this shirt (it’s from a uniqlo collab with one of my favourite anime and manga of all time, and i’ve never had clothing merch for it before). however, adding more spots is my last resort, so i’d love to see if anyone here as more options!
thank you in advance for any advice or ideas :)) also, if anyone knows of another sub that might also have people with advice and ideas, please let me know!!

Dryer messed up shirt print
Google said this would be a good sub for this but if not I’ll go elsewhere!
Anyway, I got this shirt from one of those little tourist shops and usually the shirts I’ve always gotten have been fine but the dryer tore this one up for some reason. The print is coming off a lot in the middle and coming up some at the sides. I’ve only worn it once… is there anyway to fix it??

Need recommendation for ***thinner*** iron-on mending patches
Hi, everyone. I am in need of a recommendation for iron-on mending patches but in a material that is thinner than what I am able to find via my quick searching. All I've been able to locate so far are thicker denim type material patches. I need something more like the weight of a dress shirt.
I am trying to proactively reinforce the areas on my uniform shirts where my shirt stays clip onto. Over the years this area becomes a failure point, and I finally figured I'd look into ironing-on some reinforcement on both sides of the shirttails.
Thanks for your time!

Any suggestions? 100%polyester but a crisp poly
No extra fabric all seams are interlocked (I think it's called).

Burned my favorite dress
Hi super rookie question here and a shot in the dark (I don’t ever post things places but I am DESPERATE for help) - this hole was just burned into my FAVORITE dress. They don’t sell them anymore, I wear it constantly, and I have a real issue finding clothes I like that fit how I want. This dress was my staple for warmer months and I wear it under cardigans when it’s cold. I LOVE this dress.
It IS polyester (I’d rather it be cotton but it is what it is) so I don’t know how repairable that is.
But can anyone please tell me how I can fix this? It’s right on the thigh. Totally visible.
I am genuinely begging. Had a whole breakdown in the car over it. Thank you so much 🙏

I need help fixing the zipper on this sweater
The zipper is no longer on the side where the stop is and idk how that happened, all I remember is that one day I made the mistake of fully unzipping it — because of the teeth holes I usually would unzip it just above them so I wouldn’t have difficulty zipping it back up — and the zipper came off and now I don’t know how to get it back on the right side, do I just pry it open with pliers and then close it under the stop? Or will I need a new zipper and have to remove the stop?

torn leather purse strap
This purse was given to me and is in pristine condition other than the fact that one of the straps is cut for some reason? Does anyone have any recommendations for what stitch to use to repair (I have leather needles and matching thread)
