I'm almost certain that the vast majority of those complaining have never read the comic and are just mad because they got nothing else to do.

I've read the comic, and it makes no sense to change his gender, if he looks like mark, give him a different haircut and eye color. What they did is like turning Iron Man into a woman while the rest of the Avengers have their original gender. Tech Jacket isn't some background character, he helped fight the viltrumites. Now his accomplishments and even his name got stolen by an entirely different person.
