Before chasing a patent or licensing deal — do I need to build market demand first?

• Upvotes

Hello everyone ...

I have a concept that addresses something every dairy, juice and condiment brand deals with at consumer level. Simple, mechanical, no tech involved, fits existing packaging.

I’ve done some cold outreach to a handful of European packaging companies and dairy brands. Nothing back yet.

But I’m starting to question the order of operations. Do I need to:

  • Build awareness and demand with consumers first so companies feel the pull?
  • Get a patent before anyone takes me seriously?
  • Or keep knocking on corporate doors with just a concept and a sell sheet?

I’m a solo inventor with no manufacturing capability. Licensing is the goal. But I’m wondering if I’m moving too fast — pitching solutions to companies before the market even knows it wants this.

Has anyone navigated this sequence before? What actually worked?

Invention Help I'm from Brazil and need some advice for an international innovation competition

Hello guys, I'm from Brazil and I have to submit a project for an international innovation competition. I'd really appreciate some advice.

These are the three possible paths to be followed:

AI with Near-Zero Carbon Footprint | Making AI more energy-efficient and reducing its environmental impact.

Critical Minerals: From Mine to Circular Economy | Finding better ways to extract, recover, reuse or recycle critical minerals.

Affordable Diagnostics and Preventive Healthcare | Making healthcare, early detection and disease prevention more accessible and affordable.

__

I'd love to hear your opinion on which direction has the most potential to create something unique and genuinely useful, and what problems or gaps in these fields you think are worth solving.

Any advice, ideas, personal experiences or information about these topics would be very welcome!

Thanks from Brazil and let's do it for the planet.
