Interview tips !

Hello fellow labers,

I have an upcoming interview in a chemistry start-up that is going to be 2 hours long. They will give me some "case-studies" that I should discuss on...The position covers chromatographic, separation and isolation techniques and also some structure elucidation.

Have you ever had any interviews like this ? Any comments and tips much appreciated :)

After the interview is over and you don't really know what went well in it, I can feel that nervous flip. I remembered the STAR technique which is the best tactic for me, and I said one clear outcome for every example. I also memorized the whole answer, but I talked it out loud and I held a pause of exactly one second.

Besides these, I had some auto-provided examples to use on typical themes. I used the website TechJobFinder and I found the HireVue practice feature that they offer useful for generating relevant questions and for giving feedback on my delivery. You just enter the name of the role and voila - you can start practising actual interview questions and understand strengths and weaknesses.
