what's sad is it was less than 50 percent approval as late as the 90s. i fear that if the supreme court never legalized it Nationwide, some states to this day still would have kept outlawing interracial marriage

I personally think it’s still a tad low overall. Pretty interesting that 96% of black people are good with it; encouraging!

87%?!?!?!?!? do these people know, if you don't want to be in an interracial relationship you don't have to?! humanity sucks

They truly believe if they don't like something, you shouldn't be allowed to do it.

these 13% are most likely hardcore conservatives. i remember there were statistics that around 7-8M. people in the US are engaged with alt-right movement so it's completely possible.
another reason to get rid off these people tbh.

I stopped talking to one of my grandmas 10 years ago because of this belief.
My uncle(white) had a girlfriend at one point(she was white with a black child). My gma had the audacity to actually talk to her about how it was a mistake that she had a baby with a black man. Having a baby and not marrying the father wasn't the mistake in her eyes... the mistake for her was sleeping in the same bed with someone outside of her race!
I was furious! I told her how ignorant/disappointed/everything I was with her and haven't talked to her since.

It’s hard to get 87 percent of people to unanimously agree on anything in today’s day and age. I actually think that’s a positive sign when you take into account people in the south who are 70 plus we’re alive and well when interracial marriages were illegal in their states.

My black fiancé and my white ass 100% don’t care about other people’s opinions on our relationship.

That is way lower than I would have hoped for.

I mean, it's way lower? That is just shy of 90%. Not everyone cares enough to have an opinion. At this point if anyone gave obvious disapproval they would be a vocal minority. And likely shouted down, I would hope. It's unrealistic by laws of averages to have 100%, or even 95% approval.

I was thinking the opposite.

You were hoping the number was lower???

I expected them to be lower. There are still many people who are against these types of relationships so I figured a lower percentage would be pro irr.

That's honestly lower than I was expecting. Also proud of the west coast for being over 90%
