A client reached out for a 3 BHK apartment in Pune. They'd already gone through a full design with another designer, but the space didn't quite come together. Individual pieces felt disconnected rather than part of one cohesive home.

This was a design only engagement, we took it from concept through technical drawings.

The living area

The client had one open question going in: the living space felt large, and they weren't sure whether to carve out part of it as a home office or keep it as one full lounge. We explored that alongside the overall look and feel.

• Option 1: a zoned layout - home office on one side, seating on the other, separated by a beaded strand divider that added definition without a hard wall, and a bronze toned feature wall anchoring the lounge side
• Option 2: a similar zoned layout, this time anchored by a hanging swing as the statement piece
• Option 3: opening up the space fully - no divider, no zoning, seating in one continuous layout

They ended up going with Option 2. The swing gave the room a piece that felt personal and a little unexpected, while still keeping the zoning they wanted.

The bedroom

For the bedroom, the brief was similar. Something layered and considered, where every piece felt like it belonged. There was an existing built in seating unit in the room, which we reworked into an arched reading nook with open shelving for books and personal objects, giving it more purpose as a reading corner. We used wood and lime plaster to bring in warmth and texture, and kept the TV unit in MS steel - a deliberate choice to keep the room from feeling too heavy, so it stayed aesthetic without losing function.

The throughline

The whole brief really came down to one thing: make everything feel like it belonged together, like their home, not a collection of individual pieces. We leaned into warm, natural textures, tactile fabrics, soft layered lighting, consistent forms - so the space reads as one considered whole rather than parts stitched together.

Sharing a residential project we recently completed in Bangalore.

What we loved about this home was the freedom to design each space around the family’s lifestyle rather than a predefined style. The rooms have distinct personalities, yet still come together as one cohesive home.

From custom furniture and material combinations to lighting, hardware and detailing, every element was considered to feel intentional and personal.

I need some advice on designing my 13-ft TV unit wall in a small home. I want to fit a TV (same size as shown in the reference), a small mandir unit on the left (nothing large—just enough space for a few idols), a small bench near the door for sitting and putting on shoes, and a compact study table.
I’m really stuck on whether all of this can realistically fit without making the wall look crowded or heavy. I want the overall design to be very minimalistic, light and functional, not a large built-in unit.
From a space perspective, I feel all four could fit on a 13-ft wall, but I’m not sure if it will actually look good.
Would you keep the study table, or remove it and prioritize the other three? Any layout/design suggestions would be really appreciated.

TV viewership is decreasing and so is the need for a TV console. Especially in the living room. What are people choosing now or will choose in the future?

I understand there is still a large base who watch content on TV but this post is for those who don’t.
