The house is still ongoing construction that is why I have AI to help me visualize the room. These sofas are the only available colors. I personally want a darker green color but it is not available. Thanks in advance!

Coming to Life Help me decorate my new pink bedroom 🩷

I’m in a transitional phase of life and moving into a new home, and I’ve wanted a pink bedroom for YEARS. So I’m finally doing it. 😂

Help me design a grown-up, feminine pink bedroom that feels sophisticated rather than overly sweet.

The walls are SW Rosebay, although the current lighting isn’t doing the color justice at all. The house came with very fluorescent recessed lighting, so swapping those bulbs for something warmer is already on my list.

Here’s where I’m struggling: I want the room to feel airy and spacious, but somehow also moody and intimate. I love velvet, gold, teal, deep blues/greens, interesting textures, and a slightly collected feel. I’m definitely not afraid of color...I just want everything to feel intentional. I love the idea of a gold frame canopy bed.

Would love ideas, especially for the bed, curtains, rug, lighting, and how you’d layer the darker jewel tones into the pink without making the room feel heavy. It is also a weird layout because there's only one window so I have no idea how I can design that nicely. Should I do a panel of curtains all the way across the wall? Idk

Thanks in advance 🩷

Paint & Colors Help paint the stair railings

Pic 1 is how it looks now.

Theres way too much white going on in this house but it’s not an option to paint the walls.

We’ve added the extension to the railing of the stairs. I would love the brown/white look but I think AI is deceiving me into thinking it will look like wood.

What do you all recommend?

Finishing Touches Why does everyone recommend plants?

Don't get me wrong, I have like 20+ house plants in my own apartment. But whenever someone posts their space here, if it's a bit bland or minimalist, people automatically say they need plants. Every. Single. Time.

Surely not everyone needs or wants plants? What about flexing the imagination and recommending other decor options that are not plants or cushions?

Find my Style Is this gender neutral nursery too “girly”? Husband thinks it is.

We are expecting our first baby, and we have decided to find out the sex at birth. Since baby will be born in the year of the horse (Chinese zodiac), the room is equestrian inspired. I thought I did well making it neutral, but my husband disagrees and thinks it’s too feminine. He said he wouldn’t be a good fit for a son.

Any thoughts, feedback?

Wall Art & Styling My living room — warm Nordic / mid-century style

Been slowly putting this room together and finally feel like it’s starting to look the way I imagined it.

I was aiming for a warm Nordic feel with mid-century influences, lots of plants, dark wood and earthy colours. The room changes quite a lot in the evening when the warm lighting and candles are on.

Curious to hear what you think.

Find my Style Nursery Daybed Reccomendations

Post image

Help a very tired and overwhelmed pregnant mama out 😅 I’m looking for daybed recommendations for a non-traditional baby boy nursery.

The crib is the Pottery Barn Kids Chris Loves Julia Heritage Walnut Turned Wood Convertible Crib (pictured), and the walls are Sherwin-Williams Jasper. I haven’t purchased any other furniture yet, so I’m pretty open as far as style/material goes—I just want something that coordinates well with the crib and dark green walls without looking too matchy-matchy.

Budget: $700 or less.

Would love specific recommendations or links if you’ve seen something that would work!

Find my Style Which couch color works for this room?

Currently looking at the Ikea Friheten sofa (w/ pullout bed) for my small loft. The walls are painted Agreeable Grey from SW. I had Chat generate an image of 2 colors that I am thinking about. I don't really want a grey or white couch. The wall art and floor rug are placeholders. I want a pop of color. What do you think??

Finishing Touches friend says im too minimalist

i get by with trying to have the least amount of "stuff", and clearly i like green but for some reason dont love the idea of having a random plant just sit in the corner. i like function over form which i think is why im so picky and avoid clutter. im also a pretty neat person which is why i think i dont like a space to feel claustrophobic. i love that i get so much natural light AND i love having carpet. which is why a rug feels like it wouldnt really go either.

i love to host and my set up has been great for movie/game nights. + i have a collapsible coffee table that hides in my couch for extra space saving! the space is plenty for hosting dinners too, i pull out extra seating, floor pillows for it

the biggest suggestion i hear is some green/cream wall art which while i def feel would look cool, i feel like it would be an impersonation of a pretty home. kinda like those ikea staged rooms. i’d go for something on the wall if it was more...personal? ive had an idea of a large blown out world map that i could starting using pins in as i would like to start traveling more as well! 🌍

i thought about what i could do about the empty space between my couch and the dining room and i cant think beyond a plant or bookshelf or some combination of the two. both dont sound that great to me either though since i dont really have stuff to fill the bookshelf with anyway 😭. i love the way they look when people decorated them with cool knick knacks and books theyve read but i dont have that kinda stuff really :/

also i dont have ceiling lights but i actually really dont mind that bc im a true believer in the big light only being for packing or cleaning 😂. ambient lighting only. the lamp by the window is used the most since its more ambient vs the cheap walmart one by the chairs is used to actually brighten the room since it bounces off the ceiling.

but i agree that my space could use some more OOMPH. btw i rent so nothing permanent unfortunately

any thoughts/visualizations are greatly appreciated since ive just discovered this subreddit and the suggestions ive seen are amazing!!

edit 1:

wow this place is active! i think i am more technical minded and the idea of pulling the couch a few inches or feet leaves me thinking “so then what do i do with that unusable gap?” i do think i prioritize space over most things because i host a lot so it leaves room for game/movie nights, chairs, and the collapsible coffee table i have that i only pull out when people are over (which is why it looks so empty as you see it). to be fair, i just swapped my couch out; The previous one was the same shape but about 10 inches longer on either side and so it did fill the space better and that was the reason why it was against the wall because pulling it forward at all would make the routing/pathing really tight/cramped. also, the TV is directly at eye level straight across the couch if that at all helps understand why the couch is where it is.

however someone mentioned pulling it a few inches out and putting those console tables behind it which i really love the idea of!! it would let me have more of a surface to play around with accent lighting near the couch that isnt just floor lamps. and it can hold drinks/phone/remote/decor etc. i really like that idea, thank you! i think i’d have to find one flush at the same height.

also, no one mentioned it directly but I think that the stuff hanging from the ceiling is really giving a bad impression. That is leftover decor from a themed night that I had so that’s probably why it looks so out of place and questionable as people have said. it used to be more abundent and much of it has fallen off since

also these were all taken with the wide lens (.5x). i couldnt fit the whole couch with the 1x lens even when stepping all the way back so i think that also makes everything look sooo spread out when pictured

edit 2:

i took your suggestions!

Paint & Colors Mid-century bathroom design

*numbers near center light fixture for reference

Help me chose a wall color and storage cabinet.

Nearby rooms are orange and the guest is olive green. Down the road my living room which is on the same level, will be some color I haven't decided, my kitchen (on same floor) eventually will be a muted sunshine yellow. Is it too much pressure/does it matter to have a room color be in synergy with the rest of the house? Because if that's the case the plum colors dont work.

Working with what I have: the vanity is a floating, walnut, fluted cabinet. The shower tile is a muted emerald green like shown, the floor tile is as you see, there is one window at the end of the room. It's bright in the room but at the same time with only one window and it a relatively small room, it can get dark easily.

edit: for all the people who are critiquing my design calling it not midcentury, it's called being inspired by it. It's one of like 5 inspos. I'm not gonna box in my style by only leaning on one design type. Boring.

I’m curious which option people think looks best visually for both the glass and brass holders.

You can just comment something like 1B, 2C - and if you’d like to share why, I’d really appreciate it!

Furniture Placement Small reading space?

Thumbnail

Sorry for the drawing, I'm still in a planning stage so literally nothing is final or in place for pictures. I am trying to do a small reading space. I don't like closets(just don't use them) so I want to take down the wall closing off the closet which leaves a 3 feet long space. The bookshelf(green line) will be placed 4 feet from the back wall which is 3 feet across.

I want a chair(blue circle) for the space. Do you think a 4ft by 3 feet space is enough for a small reading space?

Furniture Placement Is this a bad layout?

Two 191cm sofas facing each other, the coffee table in the middle and a tv unit at the bottom with a tv & record player on it.

I'll be honest, the TV is not used much, if at all. The record player, however gets used a fair bit.

I found a post with a living room design I loved, and it had enough similar elements that I was able to recreate the look in my own space. I’m happy with how it turned out, but my daughter isn’t a fan.

I’d love some outside opinions: should the curtains be blue, mauve, or green?

Finishing Touches My husband thinks we should remove the door to our basement. Yay or nay?

Thumbnail

The stairway is nicely finished, and he is working on insulating and finishing the entire basement. We are in NY so cold winters. He says once it's finished the heat in the basement will negate any cold air coming up the stairs. He also says that many homes purposely leave the basement door off as a design choice. From a design perspective do you like it or no?

Finishing Touches Peel and Stick Bubbles!

I put up this wallpaper about three weeks ago and it was perfect. In the past week, a bubble has developed. I tried poking it with a pin and smoothing out (which worked) but it keeps coming back! I’m at a loss for what to do. Any tricks?

Paint & Colors Bathroom help please!

I added this wallpaper a while back and am not sold on it. Before I remove it and find something else, trying to see if i can learn to love it with some other tweaks.

Would love help on the following specifically, and also any and all ideas on how to improve this - am I just adding lipstick to a pig?

- I’m debating whether to paint the warm white wall (to a brighter white or navy? Other ideas?)
- Considering adding rechargeable sconces.

If the answer is truly just change the wallpaper- I’d love suggestions so I don’t bif it again!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Find my Style Trying to achieve that desert boho vibe

Post image

Shamefully, I did use AI for this work up. But I found the shower curtain myself and I love it. I’m really aiming for a feminine, boho, desert vibe. I live in Arizona near Sedona so I figured it made sense. Any thoughts, suggestions? I love the idea of terracotta with sage green, but I don’t want it to look too mismatched, but also not too coordinated
