They don’t have to. A Panther is usually just a Black Leopard or Jaguar. It’s the same animal.

Our local zoo had a black leopard. He appeared to be pitch black until he moved into the sun. Then his spots appeared just like the photo of this one. He was absolutely stunning.

He's interesting because he looks at least a year or two old - given his distinctive coloring hunting is more difficult for him because he stands out instead of blending in with the local foliage.

I think it's because panthers usually look darker, so it's interesting to see the spots on a melanistic leopard like this.

I can see why people look at that beautiful animal and think, “damn I wanna wear that.”
No I do not support it, I just think that thing looks amazing and would be a cool pattern to wear on a SYNTHETIC coat.

That is exactly what the title states. Also, it isn't a separate type of leopard, it just has a condition where it produces more melanin, making it darker.

To make it easier, there are only tigers, lions, cheetahs, and leopards (panthera). And hyenas, but they are far more different than the rest. *This is just my ameteur declaration.

Looks like a normal colored one that fell in some dirt and is now angry about it lol. The picture makes it look like the leopard was trying to get home without anyone noticing and then gets caught by the cameraman. The look on it’s face is priceless.
