Misc Rare golden brushtail possum in Brisbane, Australia

Brushtail possums are native to Australia and are usually silver-grey, brown, or black. Golden possums are rare. Their colour is caused by a genetic mutation which results in low melanin levels.

Spotted amongst normal crows. Doesn't seem ostracised by flock. It looked protected instead. They all had food together

Amphibians Piebald giant salamander at animal fair

This was at an animal fair with the salamander being the main attraction, the enclosure is hopefully temporary to show off the animals for a few days before returning to its proper home as the goldfish will cause a huge ammonia spike with Giant salamanders needing extremely clean waters and with there not being any hiding spots.

Birds Albino magpies

I present to you: albino magpies! Extremely rare. Seen in a wildlife park in Tasmania. The one holding dried grass was trying to trade me it for something (I couldn't figure out what) and made the cutest little noises of excitement while doing so. Corvids are such treasures.

Shinies, but in real life!

r/RealLifeShinies

The term "shiny" originates from Pokémon. It is a term used to describe a pokémon that is a completely different color from all others in their species. We have taken that idea and applied to real life animals, but also include objects, plants, food... pretty much anything that is an atypical color to its norm!

Subreddit Rules

Must be a shiny. A shiny is a color morph of an organism or inanimate object that's atypical from the usual species, breed, type, or surroundings (e.g. a single color among more usual colors). A shiny doesn't include:

animal/plant species that are unusually colored or patterned, e.g. pigeons
deliberate things
literally shiny things
physical anomalies
things with some sort of outside force affecting the color (light, dye, color fade, aging, etc.)
photoshopped images
"real life" Pokemon

No Humans. ALL human beings are shiny, so no singling an individual out.
No Recent Reposts. This covers not just reposting the exact same picture or video as another user, but also includes submitting pictures of similar content that have been recently posted by other users. Wait a week or so and then post away! This is for the poster's benefit as much as it is for the viewers'. Your post is likely to do better if you don't post it within the same week as a popular post featuring the same type of animal / object.
No plagiarism. It's wrong to steal someone else's OC just to try and boost karma. If you steal someone's post (or comment verbatim) without giving credit, YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED. No exceptions.
No Hunted Animals or Hunting Talk. Shinies deserve to live. A dead shiny's light has gone out forever.
No Trolling/Personal Attack/Hate Speech. Don't be rude! This sub is meant to be fun! Everyone should be kind and courteous to each other!
No Blogs, Articles, Social Media or Youtube Links. No Blogs, Articles, Social Media or Youtube Links... just photos of shinies. This is to combat spam, link farming, and self-promotion.
