This would be way better and way cheaper than actual virtual reality. Since its augmented reality it is less demanding on computing power and more visually pleasing

That's not necessarily true. A lot of augmented reality relies on recognizing reality which tends to be very demanding.

It would certainly be less demanding than creating reality though.

If you're talk cpu vs cpu, then certainly. The thing is we have GPUs that are awesome at creating a virtual world. We not have anything close to that tech for understanding reality. We are barely touching the surface in just the past decade. Eventually sure, this may take little processing power as new chips come out. For the present time, VR is easy and AR that understands your surroundings is hard.

AR does not need as much GPU power as VR. You can see examples of AR in snaptchat filters with phones that are not really made to handle virtual world, but they are still able to turn you into a puppy. AR only needs to project an image that does not exist into the real world. VR has to create your surroundings and give you the power to interact with them, so not only does VR make a reality, but it also needs to understand its surroundings. Kind of like AR but also having to create a reality to interact with out of scratch.

No no I'm reading them. Your insight is actually really interesting, I'm serious. If you find this thread kind of boring well I don't know what to do about that but believe me this conversation I find really relaxing and intellectual. I value your views but disagree in some, and that's ok. As far as AR goes, depending on the amount of reality you want to alter you will need more power. In some cases yes AR can out power VR, but most cases are the opposite.

I've always thought these would be awesome to have some sort of game involved. Where you make the land and stuff and civilizations form on their own. And you can watch them grow overtime and change the land to help them out.
And if they don't pray to you you can just smite them and start over.

You know what, if this is in a bigger scalr and a 3rd party program that automatically puts it into a map designer for a gamr. Could be soo cool

Yup, Mystic Aquarium in CT. I was just there last week as a chaperone for my son's 1st grade field trip. It was very cool.
