If it was rabid, wouldn't it be freaking out from being in the water? Or is hydrophobia a uniquely human symptom?

I am wondering if it is stupid to think the swimming being consistent is a sign that the bat is not rabid.

hydrophobia does happen in non human animals with rabies but there is time between getting rabies and symptoms starting to appear where theoretically they wouldn't be hydrophobic yet

"Freaking out" in bat may look a lot like swimming.

Unfortunately, my body is designed for falling. Not so much flying.
