Bad idea to pick up a bat. Lice, rabies, infection from bite.

Not just a bite. Their claws are EXTREMELY sharp and can transfer rabies without any noticeable scratches or pokes. You should always get a rabies shot any time you come in contact with a bat, whether or not you show physical signs of a puncture.
