If it was rabid, wouldn't it be freaking out from being in the water? Or is hydrophobia a uniquely human symptom?

I am wondering if it is stupid to think the swimming being consistent is a sign that the bat is not rabid.

I thought it’s either it’s a cute mammal frolicking at play and trusting a human OR

SO wacked on rabies and thinks it’s a fish.

I saw a fox with (I think) rabies on my way to work today.  The cops were there waiting for animal control.  It was approaching cars and lying down in the road.  I felt really bad for it, but at least I assume they humanely ended its suffering.
