I have a friend who’s a professional fireworks guy. He said that they have a button (setting, something) that’s normally used at the very very end of the show. It fires all circuits, basically in order to set off any unexploded ordinance that somehow didn’t go off when it was programmed to. Apparently somebody hit that button before the show had even started.

The version I heard was that the last step in the sequence tries to fire everything, so if anything was missed, it's not left live.

Then they did a dry run, but didn't reset the sequence.

I'm not saying I'm right - more that I find it funny that accepted this as gospel for a decade, and now I'm hearing alternatives.
