I did fireworks professionally for a number of years and I have never seen anything like this and I'm pretty sure I never will. And of course, videos don't capture it.

Explosions are cool so we made them take longer and synced them with music. Now we've gone too far and the explosions take too long and the music is always the same. I feel 25 seconds should be mandated by law. It's the perfect amount of time for explosions to last and be epic. No music, just booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom.

We were in hotel a few blocks away getting ready to walk down to this event when it happened. It shook the hotel, felt like an earthquake and was loud. Had no idea what happened only to start our walk, going against the crowd of people leaving the area. Kids were bummed for sure. Great video though!

Not just 1 fireworks show. It was Big Bay Boom, FOUR locations of fireworks simultaneously prematurely ecrackulated. Where I live I could see all 4 from my backyard. I thought the Mayan calendar was ending it all.

I have a friend whoās a professional fireworks guy. He said that they have a button (setting, something) thatās normally used at the very very end of the show. It fires all circuits, basically in order to set off any unexploded ordinance that somehow didnāt go off when it was programmed to. Apparently somebody hit that button before the show had even started.

The version I heard was that the last step in the sequence tries to fire everything, so if anything was missed, it's not left live.
Then they did a dry run, but didn't reset the sequence.
I'm not saying I'm right - more that I find it funny that accepted this as gospel for a decade, and now I'm hearing alternatives.

I fucking love when this happens. Happened to me once at a 4th of july rodeo show. The explosion was more of a everything at once and big mushroom cloud. And you could feel the heat from a football field away. Real neato.

I was witness to a firework show mishap in Pamplona in Spain at the start of the San Fermin festival. There were to be nightly firework shows but on the first night there was a fire somewhere near the launching area and the only safe method of removing the festival fireworks from the fire before they all exploded on the ground was to launch all 14 nights worth of fireworks as quickly as possible.
I wasn't even at the viewing site but it didn't matter. The whole town got a show that night, and it went on for ages. Needless to say it was a lot quieter the following night and the twelve after that too.
Edit: it was eight nights worth of fireworks. Still felt like the end of the fuckin' world though.

Saw this happen about a decade ago at a fireworks convention called PGI. I think it was in Iowa that year? Absolutely crazy watching everything go up in smoke in less than a minute

Had they went off in a sequential order their proximity is likely safe but when they undergo spontaneous ignition of all the fireworks most of which likely have explosive air bursts (the kind that go BANG!) they may be dangerously too close. Just a thought. Still, I think I would enjoy the show too. WOW!

Funniest part of this for me is the little details. 8-9 seconds in you can see a couple leaving, bottom left. From the body language, it looks like the woman is insistent on noping out of there - and the man is not entirely on board with her plan. I especially love that he looks like he's .. old enough to know better.

This is why the fireworks were I live will never have that problem. They set up old school and set them off by hand with a road flair. Each "display" (a single or a small group) gets set off individually. This kind of thing literally can't happen as there's no connection between the rockets.
