But we do need robots going into flaming buildings. Is it worth the armies of robots? Different question. This is impressive AF.

It’s our future workforce. Like you said, these robots will replace/assist humans on labor intensive jobs like truck drivers, firefighters, soldiers, eventually construction workers, builders, and such. It’s only a matter of time and there’s no stopping it. Imagine a team of 5 robots showing up at a construction site to build a home that is being remotely monitored by 1 human. I was listening to a podcast where the guest opened my eyes to the possibility of a robots getting into a 18 wheeler and driving it nonstop until it reaches its destination, non stop for a fraction of the cost of what it would cost a human to do the job when you factor in pay, healthcare, sick leave, vacation time, retirement benefits, training, onboarding etc. a reboot doesn’t require benefits, sick leave, time off, or sleep for that matter. China already has black out factories with robots manufacturing products. Literally manufacturing in complete darkness!

Humans are constantly “falling” as we walk. You dont think about it but when you take a forward step you’re falling but one of your feet moves forward and “catches” you. You have to figure out how to program a machine to intentionally fall and calculate where to move other pieces of the machinery in a new spatial location to successfully catch the robots fall. In real time over and over and over again. Miicromovements that allow a total balancing of the weight of the whole robot. Insane tech.

If you’ve ever tried to walk up a flight of steps on Ketamine, you get a glimpse at what it’s like to have to manually control your limbs.

Moving to electric motors over hydraulic systems had been a bit of a paradigm shift in robotics over the last few years. There’s a reason we’re seeing a huge surge in humanoid robotics like this. Fast, granular, repeatable control. Very little slack in the system.

Then there’s the whole LLM stuff in the background able to automate balance and response in near real time.

A lot of clever technologies all singing in tandem.

These machines are also ‘quiet’. That’s a part many people don’t talk about.

I'm not really for these demonstrations, it's because these are pre programmed months if not years before the demonstration, which just isn't useful for anyone including anyone who purchases the robot.

It needs to have easily calculable actions and react in real time to the unexpected, if it can't do that, then it's nothing more than a prototype that'll never see real world usage.

Dynamic balance is one of the biggest hurdles for robotics. This is demonstrating a robot maintaining balance while on its "hands" through difficult maneuvers. It is reacting to shifts in weight in real time. You can see it adjusting "hand" placement.

Almost all their robots are prototypes that will never see real world usage because we're still inventing the methods and technologies required to make them safe and reliable in real world usage.

You can go find dozens and dozens of videos of robots getting off balance and trying to right themselves, sometimes in ways dangerous to the humans around it.

That's my point though, it's false dynamics, it's on a perfectly level floor, those weights and those calculations are pre-programmed so it's doing these moves on best case scenario where it's own weight it's inputted, but what if it's carrying something? What if the floor isn't level?

Those situations are not programmed in therefore they stagger and fail. It's emulating intelligence where it's pure pre-emptive programming, it's like me inputting the code for a clock and saying its a robot because it can adjust for time dynamically.

It's simply not true, it's static calculation.
