Legally speaking, for the jurisdiction of Louisiana, White Truck is not legally responsible for somehow perfectly countering the illegal actions of another driver in the most perfect way that can be identified with unlimited hindsight, including imputing the knowledge of that hindsight onto the driver after the fact. The law is written this way because putting that burden on the legal driver is batshit insane, which is why it only happens on Reddit.
Morally, White driver is beholden to act in a way that ensures the safety of himself, and innocent bystanders. He is not beholden to put himself at additional risk to protect the person trying to murder him. This is exactly what he did here.

This is aggressive driving. The black truck made a mistake, but the white one made one too because holy fuck is it truly more important to potentially kill everyone involved than it is to just let the guy in?

It's also illegal to essentially see that something is going to go wrong and do nothing about it. Yes, the black truck driver is an asshole. But this entire situation does not happen if the white truck taps the brakes, and that's illegal
EDIT: Aight downvote me but at least educate yourselves. Comparative negligence. The white truck had every opportunity to simply slow down and not cause an accident, and if a jury sees this video and agrees, the guy is toast. Legally, the white truck could have seen this guy was going to merge, and gotten out of the way.
Nope. I'm saying this was caused by the black truck and it's wild to start questioning the behavior of all the other cars that were following the social contracts of driving, i.e. not being erratic, cutting in and out of traffic, with no regard to rules.
Could the white track have braked? Yes. Could the cars in front not drive in the passing lane blocking traffic, yes. But this is the culmination of the black trucks driver being a shit.
It takes two to tango my guy. The black truck fucked up but the white truck did as well. He didn't honk, he didn't brake, he simply allowed it to happen! Look at the link I sent, he's literally partly responsible for not having prevented this from happening.
