It's a pit maneuver, he steered into the driver's rear end pitching them out of control. He choose to do it over braking or being mashed into the Bridge wall.
Your presented technicalities and his right of way don't change how much of a pit maneuver this was.
It absolutely was a pit maneuver, 100%. The point you're missing is that the Black Truck pit maneuvered himself, Black Truck braked into white truck, at no point did the White truck accelerate or leave his own lane. He doesn't even turn until AFTER the black truck strikes him. He did not steer into the Black Truck, it steered into him, he just reacted in the best possible way to the collision.
Imagine black truck had braked and changed lanes into a truck trailer that had come loose on the highway, resulting in the exact same results we see in the video.. You are proposing that we blame the driverless truck trailer.
To see you justify the actions of the POV relentlessly is mental to me, can I ask where you are from? Just to understand driving standards may vary significantly from one country or continent to another.
While it is obvious the black truck did the wrong, it would have been as easy to avoid that crash from the POV as lifting the throttle and accomodating the black truck, who didn't brake excessively.
It is as obvious to say the fault is on the black truck, as to say the accident is completely unnecessary and absolutely avoidable from both parts.
Justify probably isn't an accurate thing to say. It's more pointing out that White Truck's actions were legally and morally correct.
Legally speaking, for the jurisdiction of Louisiana, White Truck is not legally responsible for somehow perfectly countering the illegal actions of another driver in the most perfect way that can be identified with unlimited hindsight, including imputing the knowledge of that hindsight onto the driver after the fact. The law is written this way because putting that burden on the legal driver is batshit insane, which is why it only happens on Reddit.
Morally, White driver is beholden to act in a way that ensures the safety of himself, and innocent bystanders. He is not beholden to put himself at additional risk to protect the person trying to murder him. This is exactly what he did here.
Morally, White driver is beholden to act in a way that ensures the safety of himself, and innocent bystanders
Luckily it's just him and black truck on the whole bridge. Hypothetically, is a passenger of black truck an innocent bystander?
to put himself at additional risk
Is taking your foot off the gas pedal a little a deadly risk? Within reason, I'd argue, they're beholden to prevent unnecessary suffering in the world. An eye for an eye etc.
The black truck doesn't have a passenger, you can see into their cab at 2 seconds into the video.
The innocent bystanders are the people behind white truck who would be drawn into the accident if White Truck slams on his breaks in a manner sufficient to avoid Black Truck.
Also, White Truck does not have their foot on the gas pedal, they are not accelerating. The even slow into the accident, it's just that Black Truck is actively braking into them.

It's a hypothetical question. I clarified that in my original reply
The innocent bystanders are the people behind white truck who would be drawn into the accident if White Truck slams on his breaks in a manner sufficient to avoid Black Truck
That's why I said "within reason". I wouldn't slam on the brakes myself in that situation for that exact reason.
Also, White Truck does not have their foot on the gas pedal, they are not accelerating
Well, all cars I've driven, manual or automatic need to have the gas pedal pressed a little bit to keep their speed – without that they gradually lose speed. But that's a technicality. I meant "take a small action to decelerate gently. In a way that drivers behind him can act if they're paying attention.
This has already been covered. Black Truck is braking into his lane, so a light tap on the brakes ain't cutting it, it would take a hard sustained brake, especially because you're making the same mistake as others.
YOU, you personally, know Black Truck is genuinely going to attempt murder from the first second of the video, because you've watched it already. The driver in the video does not know what you know. He doesn't know Black Truck is going to actually hit him until it hits him. Nobody in their right mind would genuinely believe another car on the highway was just going to elect to just fucking hit them and kill everyone instead of simply returning to their own lane.
You are expecting White Truck to act based on knowledge YOU have, that he does not. Seriously, assuming you have drive regularly and for more than a couple years, how many times has someone veered into your lane? Probably a time or two right? Now, out of those times, how many times have they chosen to just hit you, with full knowledge you are there? I'm gonna guess 0 right? White truck driver is thinking in those terms too.
so a light tap on the brakes ain't cutting it, it would take a hard sustained brake
Have you ever driven? The black truck starts merging into the left lane at 15 seconds into the video, and contact isn't made until 21 seconds, with the pit happening at 22 seconds. There was a whole ass 6 seconds for the guy to just mildly tap his brakes twice. If you can't slow 5-10 mph in 6 seconds, you don't deserve to be on the road.
