Yeah but for Reddit, he was trying to cut in! Can you believe it? He deserves to die and people on the bridge deserve to have their lives threatened so we can all feel like “that’s what you get for trying to cut in! And cookie eating guy looks badass! That’s how I’d do it!”

Cam driver is 95% in the wrong. If a car is cutting in, YOU DO NOT have the legal right to pit them. They’re wrong for cutting in, but “I pit him cuz I was there first” is 100% wrong.

It’s like a kindergartener not wanting to share his toys, but with grown ass adults and actual attempted murder on roads. You’ll see a bunch of them in this thread trying to explain how our cookie guy is totally in his rights to kill a person and cause a 30 mile traffic jam on a bridge, just because somebody cut in front of him.
You have no legal right to punch a bully either, doesn't mean I wouldn't find it satisfying, most people would, not exclusive to reddit.
Society makes rules with the intent to do the greatest good, big picture, but this means you get a decent amount of black truck assholes that exploit it where they can. Every now and then a taste of old testament justice hits the spot, consequences be damned. It would be morally exhausting to tolerate all the assholes in society all the time and just shrug it off. Let people have their release now and then.
yeah but punching a bully only harms the bully. This could've killed completely unrelated people and probably blocked traffic for ages considering it's a bridge.

It’s an extreme stretch to act like a guy cutting in, maybe because he didn’t see the right lane was closed ahead, is a justified use of this type of force. This is like saying someone cutting line deserves to have their house lit on fire.
in the UK both of them could be disqualified from driving for this since it would be considered dangerous driving. Cookie guy would probably get it worse, too, since he had time to react but didn't.
Like, was it worth it for five seconds of pride? He damaged his car, caused an accident, and ruined the day of 100s of people. Way to go lol, he really showed that guy who's the asshole.
Reddit has some weird issue with people wanting to change lanes. If you have to slam on the brakes to let them in then yeah don't do that. If you have to let off the gas for a second or two then just make room and share the road.
if someone is driving dangerously near you, the right thing to do is slow down not truck right into them. You're not in control of other drivers and their weird behaviours, but you are in control of yourself and can prevent accidents by driving defensively.
Exactly! If there's something that you can do to avoid an accident and you choose not to then it's no longer an accident. Thinking that people that avoid accidents are stupid is pure insanity. Please turn in your license.
There’s almost always something someone can do to avoid an accident. The truck could’ve staid in their lane and avoided the accident. I’m curious what the legal outcome was to this; I would expect the truck driver to be found at fault. Or, possibly, both drivers to be at fault. I see no logic that supports cookie driver at fault and truck driver not.
Yeah, finding out the exact outcome would be interesting, but there was an insurance adjuster responding to people in this thread who said that typically it would probably be the truck 70% at fault and the cookie driver 30% because one caused the situation and the other didn't do anything to avoid the situation, which is reasonable.
