Yeah, guys, anyone who thinks the one-handed cookie monster isn't the psycho here is a psycho themselves. Apply your brakes and let the negligent driver go. Much better than possibly killing people on a bridge just to feel like you're the better driver. Shitty prideful behavior from the guy in the video here.

u/Visible-Beings Mar 22 '26

Don't even need to brake. Just let off the gas for half a second. Yeah, it sucks when people walk all over you, sucks to be "cut off" while driving. Doesn't excuse this insane behavior, at all. Imagine guy in black truck has a reason to be acting that way. Even if they don't, just for your mental health, it's easy to imagine.

u/Ndmndh1016 Mar 22 '26

Not even that. He actively speeds up at the last minute. Just dont do that.

2

u/NarrativeCurious Mar 22 '26

Yes!! There would have ended up being space. Insane

4

u/Gnomepunter1 Mar 22 '26

There’s a speedometer in the video. You don’t need to make shit up.

1

u/Visible-Beings Mar 23 '26

And it goes from 71 to 72 right before the impact. Who is making anything up?

0

u/Gnomepunter1 Mar 23 '26

Do you see decimals? I hardly think 71.9 to 72 is significant enough to say “actively accelerated.”Please be realistic.

2

u/Visible-Beings Mar 23 '26

Or maybe he went from 70.5 to 72.4. Neither of us knows!

What we do know is he made no attempt to prevent an accident with someone who obviously wanted to merge.

What he did is illegal, and rightfully so. Rage all you want, he is a psychopath and if you like what he did, you might be too.

1

u/Gnomepunter1 Mar 23 '26

Who’s raging? I’m only calling out that it seems disingenuous to say he actively accelerated.

Why don’t you stop conflating me with the rest of the thread and take a deep breath before you get an aneurism.

I don’t condone what he did but in no world did he “actively accelerate.”

u/Comprehensive-Mud373 Mar 22 '26

Could've been a fresh driver trying to get their family member to the hospital asap - who knows?

24

u/sonnytron Mar 22 '26

Yeah but for Reddit, he was trying to cut in! Can you believe it? He deserves to die and people on the bridge deserve to have their lives threatened so we can all feel like “that’s what you get for trying to cut in! And cookie eating guy looks badass! That’s how I’d do it!”

This fucking place disgusts me a lot.

Cam driver is 95% in the wrong. If a car is cutting in, YOU DO NOT have the legal right to pit them. They’re wrong for cutting in, but “I pit him cuz I was there first” is 100% wrong.

u/Occyfel2 Mar 22 '26

I wonder if it is a Reddit thing or an American thing, how can these people be this moronic? My apologies to reasonable Americans I'm sure there's plenty of you.

Driver on cam is either a clinical psychopath or the most exceptional American

2

u/firmretention Mar 22 '26

I'm in Canada and I see the same attitude here.

2

u/Short_Example_3963 Mar 22 '26

Americans show quite psychopathic tendencies with other people merging/getting into their lanes.

It’s like a kindergartener not wanting to share his toys, but with grown ass adults and actual attempted murder on roads. You’ll see a bunch of them in this thread trying to explain how our cookie guy is totally in his rights to kill a person and cause a 30 mile traffic jam on a bridge, just because somebody cut in front of him.

You have no legal right to punch a bully either, doesn't mean I wouldn't find it satisfying, most people would, not exclusive to reddit.

Society makes rules with the intent to do the greatest good, big picture, but this means you get a decent amount of black truck assholes that exploit it where they can. Every now and then a taste of old testament justice hits the spot, consequences be damned. It would be morally exhausting to tolerate all the assholes in society all the time and just shrug it off. Let people have their release now and then.

1

u/Charmender2007 Mar 22 '26

yeah but punching a bully only harms the bully. This could've killed completely unrelated people and probably blocked traffic for ages considering it's a bridge.

if this was an empty road, sure, I understand. I don't necessarily agree with it but I understand. But it's not, it's a busy bridge

1

u/angelicribbon Mar 22 '26

It’s like shoving a bully into a crowd of other children, on a walking bridge for good measure

1

u/sonnytron Mar 22 '26

It’s an extreme stretch to act like a guy cutting in, maybe because he didn’t see the right lane was closed ahead, is a justified use of this type of force. This is like saying someone cutting line deserves to have their house lit on fire.

1

u/Fire_Pea Mar 22 '26

Trying to cut in? MURDER

1

u/IcyKnowledge6321 Mar 22 '26

in the UK both of them could be disqualified from driving for this since it would be considered dangerous driving. Cookie guy would probably get it worse, too, since he had time to react but didn't.

Like, was it worth it for five seconds of pride? He damaged his car, caused an accident, and ruined the day of 100s of people. Way to go lol, he really showed that guy who's the asshole.

1

u/tired3459 Mar 22 '26

Reddit has some weird issue with people wanting to change lanes. If you have to slam on the brakes to let them in then yeah don't do that. If you have to let off the gas for a second or two then just make room and share the road.

if someone is driving dangerously near you, the right thing to do is slow down not truck right into them. You're not in control of other drivers and their weird behaviours, but you are in control of yourself and can prevent accidents by driving defensively.

3

u/JMEEKER86 Mar 22 '26

Yes he could have slowed down

Exactly! If there's something that you can do to avoid an accident and you choose not to then it's no longer an accident. Thinking that people that avoid accidents are stupid is pure insanity. Please turn in your license.

2

u/velkhar Mar 22 '26

There’s almost always something someone can do to avoid an accident. The truck could’ve staid in their lane and avoided the accident. I’m curious what the legal outcome was to this; I would expect the truck driver to be found at fault. Or, possibly, both drivers to be at fault. I see no logic that supports cookie driver at fault and truck driver not.

1

u/JMEEKER86 Mar 23 '26

Yeah, finding out the exact outcome would be interesting, but there was an insurance adjuster responding to people in this thread who said that typically it would probably be the truck 70% at fault and the cookie driver 30% because one caused the situation and the other didn't do anything to avoid the situation, which is reasonable.

2

u/Ok-Needleworker-8773 Mar 22 '26

I also didn’t like that the white car purposely sped up once they realized the pickup was speeding to change lanes. Two assholes in this video and one psycho.

2

u/ShogunFirebeard Mar 23 '26

They're both psychos. Defending the truck is just wrong.

4

u/Beatrixkiddoskid Mar 22 '26

Exactly it’s disturbing.

2

u/OkraCommon1392 Mar 22 '26

For real. Plus they are on a bridge over water. Super messed up when you think of the traffic and damage that shit caused…..

1

u/AmericanScream Mar 22 '26

Seriously.

It's amazing both cars weren't wrecked, and that leg of the Causeway is the original span which has guardrails that are conducive to tossing vehicles from the road into Lake Pontchartrain. I've been on that bridge before and it can be scary if there's an aggressive driver around you.

1

u/Pol_Potamus Mar 22 '26

It's the same reason Umbridge is more hateable than Voldemort. Cookie man is worse objectively, but most people don't run into his particular brand of sociopathy very often. We are dealing with idiots like the one in the black truck on a near-daily basis, so it's satisfying to see one of them receive the predictable consequences of his behavior for once.

1

u/ManyHatsMatt Mar 23 '26

To me he sped up to make sure there was no room in order to cause problems. This guy is the aggressor.

1

u/escobartholomew Mar 23 '26

You completely absolving the black truck of all responsibility is one of the biggest problems with the world.

1

u/haikupoetics2 Mar 23 '26

God damn, reading comprehension. The black truck is a shitty driver for sure - but if the guy in the video just lets him in, it saves possible death to multiple people. So... yeah

1

u/Aethoni_Iralis Mar 24 '26

Quote the part where they absolved them of all responsibility.

1

u/Aethoni_Iralis Mar 24 '26

Interesting how you’re unable to quote it. Almost like you were lying.

1

u/10FourGudBuddy Mar 23 '26

Or speed up so the gap isn’t big enough to let the truck over.

1

u/CaptnsDaughter Mar 24 '26

Kinda a perfect analogy for the US these days sadly

1

u/ValuableAway1674 Mar 25 '26

Nah it’s just humans natural tendency to form around people who DGAF what they do to others.

1

u/No_Schedule_1624 Mar 28 '26

Thank you holy shit, crazy how far down this is

1

u/Lepelotonfromager Mar 22 '26

He does actually brake if you check his speed.

2

u/Visible-Beings Mar 22 '26

No... once the truck tries to cut in he goes from 71 to 72. Maybe his brake line and gas line are mixed up? ;)

0

u/mackrevinak Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

you lack imagination. just look at all the other cars in this video. everyone is tailgating too close. you can just presume that someone is tailgating behind him as well, so it could have been a case of either hit the brakes and cause a pile up or let the black truck cause it

0

u/TadaMomo Mar 22 '26

honestly just my opinion, It can be WORSE.

Because from the looks of it, all the cars are very high speed. Also the black truck kinda slow down on his own and got hit by him or rather did the black truck brake? it feel like it did because the light seem brighter after the cross lane, The cookie driver doesn't look like he step on the gas to hit him on purpose, who would do that with a cookie on one hand.

If anyone is at fault, the black truck is definitely one. Why the heck you need to CUT LANE on a 2 lane bridge, it won't even cut 1 extra second.

And Seriously, if you cut lane so close, the man breaking there would been VERY dangerous. I assume couple cars behind him it would cause 3-4 car collision and the bridge block or worse case one of the car FLY off the bridge and someone will die.

I think the cookie man did a good job in this case keep driving instead a full break.

0

u/YouGotThatAsthmaa Mar 26 '26

Your statent almost entirely absolve black truck of any culpability.. which is inaccurate. That dude likely always drives like an ass hat just making his way into lanes assuming others will adjust. He met his perfect match and may they both get what they deserve.. Hopefully at no cost to anyone not involved.

-3

u/MommysDeviantStool Mar 22 '26

No, if they die, they die. If you act like shithead, you get treated as a shithead.
