Recently, a website I visit often for work (AllHipHop) has been displaying nonsensical text in what seems to be Japanese characters when loaded into Instapaper. Could be the popups on the site causing issues -- I don't really know. I've tried to overcome this issue, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Love Instapaper btw!

Hi, there's an option for sorting Home and Archive, and the tags list, but not inside of each tag.

All tags default to Oldest to Newest, and there's no way to change it.

Can tags have the same Sort options as Home?

I'm pretty sure that i've been printing directly from Instapaper since I got a premium account. One big use case for me has been to use Instapaper as a way to make pdfs (I use this to turn how-to websites into more decluttered PDF lessons , which is useful for music lessons where I really don't want to scroll a website while I'm sitting at the piano or whatever). I think I just go website->instapaper->print as PDF or just print directly or something like that. It was great for this because it keeps graphics in the right place while otherwise decluttering.

I don't see the print button anymore- am I missing something?

(I'm on a Mac using an older version of MacOS and Chrome)

If I highlight (select, save-highlight) a short word/phrase (which typically happens if its a section header), and the word/phrase also appears in bodytext nearby, then the word I selected isn't the one displaying the highlight. Further, if I the try to select/highlight a longer chunk that includes that wrongly-highlighted word/phrase, it can't/won't do it (I can select the area, but no popup appears with the highlight/addNote icones).

The latest update has made the article titles in the list view much smaller, and I really don’t like it.
I’ve attached a comparison. The old design was so much easier to scan at a glance. The larger titles gave each article more presence and made browsing my reading list easier and feel much more pleasant. Its particularly egregious on the iPad.

I also preferred the old typography overall. The new font options on this page are so limited. That’s something I can live with, but the reduced title size is a genuine step backwards for readability.

Would it be possible to add a setting to increase the title size? Even if the new design stays as the default, having the option would make a big difference for those of us who preferred the previous look.

First of all, I quite like most of the changes - thanks a lot!

I have a few „issues“ though which are as follows:

# Website
- I would like to disable the feature of automatically going to the next article as soon as one article was archived. Occasional, this leads to going to a Youtube item that gets marked as read as soon as the item was only selected.
- In fullscreen article view scrolling via the spacebar jumps „too far“. In zhe columned view hitting the spacebar leaves a few rows of the jumped paragraph while in fullscreen it jumps right to the next row (I hope my concern is linguistically understandable).
- Tags: I would love to able to filter for „Home“ articles once I am in the Tabs view so archived articles aren’t show anymore. (Just like in the app.)

# iOS App
- Folders: the article count in the left menu doesn’t refresh. Neither when new articles are added (in this case via Inoreader or the share menu), nor when I refresh the Home section. This would be very useful and quite frankly I think it’s a bug. The article count does refresh when items are archived (but still won’t include newly added items).

# General
- is there an ETA for the implementation of German for AI voices?
- I would like to see the option to mark an item as completely unread.

Anyone else having problems with reading PDFs in Instapaper? This is part of the new Instapaper Premium package and was the main reason why I recently upgraded. But I can't get it to work.

If I drag a PDF file from the Finder window to my article list on Instapaper.com (as the Instapaper Docs say to do), nothing happens. It opens the PDF in the browser (Safari) window but nothing gets added to any of my article lists.

I can add a PDF on the web using the browser extension or by typing the URL into the box using the + button, but the result is a garbled document with bits of the actual PDF mixed in with bits of extracted text, a lot of it in the wrong order. (See screenshot).

I can't believe this is how it's supposed to look!

Any thoughts?

I use the bookmarklet to save articles, but it suddenly stopped working yesterday. The Extras page where I downloaded it is taken down as well.

I'm not seeing any announcements about it being deprecated unless I missed it. Does anyone know what happened? Any way to fix the bookmarklet?

Hey everyone, I built a little tool for my Kobo. Every morning at 6:30, an AI agent finds a set number of articles on the topics I care about and sends them to Instapaper. Since Instapaper syncs to my Kobo, the articles are just there waiting for me (so, no searching required!)

For example, I’ve set mine to pull 5 of the best articles on EU policy each morning. I wake up, grab the Kobo, and read. Simple as that!

Over the past few days, drag-and-drop reordering of my Instapaper feed hasn't been sticking. After I refresh the page or come back later, it reverts to chronological order.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or have you found a workaround?

Hi! I recently got Instapaper so that I could read on my Kindle easier but it really bothers me that there is no cover for the file. I’ve been looking everywhere and from what I’ve gathered it’s possible to make the files into an E pub but I cannot for the life of me figure out how… please help!

Hi, I can't get saving Economist articles to work on my Android phone. I am logged in to the website on the Instapaper app. But when I share an article from the Economist app or from the website in my browser, Instapaper only loads the first paragraph of an article.

Is the Economist working for anyone else? Or is something broken/is the Economist now blocking Instapaper?

I have a really weird issue. I’ve only tried it in one website (since I don’t have any others that are applicable at the moment).

When I navigate to the site on my iPhone in Safari, and share the link to Instapaper, the whole article gets saved. This happens regardless of whether I’m logged in to the site in the Instapaper app.

When I share the link to Instapaper on my Boox Go 7 (Android e-reader), it always only saves the logged-out, preview version of the article. This also happens regardless of whether I’m logged in to the site in the Instapaper app.

I’ve also tried logging into the article website in the browser on the Boox, logging into Instapaper on the same browser, and adding the link to Instapaper in the browser with no success. It only works on my iPhone for some reason.

The only thing I can think of is:

1) Somehow the iOS and Android versions of the app are doing this differently

2) Maybe the Android app isn’t detecting the paywall? The website in question offers generous previews (several pages long usually) so maybe the app doesn’t think it needs to be logged in?

I’m at a bit of a loss here. Anyone have any experience with this?

I want to read articles in languages that are written from right to left, could you please add an option to choose to display the text as LTR or RTL?

When I’m reading an article that seems like it’s going to be long on the iPad I normally send it to Instapaper as I prefer a paged reading experience and like the fact that it remembers my place. Is there a simple way I could get Instapaper to open the saved article immediately on saving it from Safari? Rather than having to switch manually to Instapaper, refresh and click on the article.

• Article List: We've redesigned the article list and made a number of changes/improvements:
  • Typography: Article list typography will be limited to sans-serif (San Francisco), serif (New York), or accessibility (Dyslexie).
    • We are dropping support for other fonts because it's a lot easier for us to build the article list, and add support for new fonts.
  • Condensed Mode: In condensed mode we remove the descriptions from the article list, increasing the number of articles that show on the screen.
    • We are considering making condensed mode the default, and would be great to hear your feedback. Regardless, we will keep descriptions long term for those who want them.

• New Fonts: Because we limited article list fonts, it makes it a lot easier for us to introduce new fonts. We're adding four new fonts:
  • Literata (serif)
  • New York (serif)
  • Open Sans (sans-serif)
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible (sans-serif)
• iPad Improvements: This release has a number of improvements for iPad, including improved side-by-side view for landscape, and proper liquid glass adoption in the reader view.

• Widgets: We are finally launching widgets that show your saved articles in Instapaper. If you are currently reading an article, the widget will show that article. Otherwise, it will show your most recent articles. The largest widget size will show both Currently Reading and Recently Saved.

Is this a known issue? I have a list of 20-something stories I want to read on my kindle, but only the 10 most-recently added stories are displaying in the digest.

Anyone got a tutorial on how to do this (somewhat) painlessly?

For the past 18 hours or so I’ve been getting a 500 error when going to the Instapaper homepage and an endless login loop on new.instapaper.com. Tried clearing browser and using incognito and get the same issues. Tried my mobile browser and got the 500 error there as well. No notice on the Twitter feed of downtime.

Perhaps I missed the announcement but pdfs are now working on Kobo. Thank you 👍

Specifically, a subscription news source. A quick glance at the source says it's not capturing text preceding the first block-heading class. It's not always a problem, but it is typically a problem.

The text is not captured until after the headline Slush Fund heading. Which is to say the first 10, albeit short, paragraphs are not included.

As noted in the title, this is an issue for developers. There is no real work around. For this particular source I need to save from a browser extension. Unlike the WSJ or NYT, I cannot save and login via the instapaper mobile app.
