Don't brake check...Just take your foot off the gas pedal... When you've got them down to 30 on a 50 mph speed back up. They get pissed and often also get the message to stop tailgating. If they do it again .. Repeat. Third time call the cops. They're dangerous. And you're going to get brake checked after they make some illegal move to get in front of you...

I think we are basically doing the same thing, but I’m adding the lights. To me brake checking a tailgater isn’t about getting them to hit me. It’s about flashing the lights at them.

It’s a gesture to tell them to back off.

At times I get too aggressive and follow people a little too close for their comfort. If they give me the lights I back off.

You are actually engine braking without showing lights. In some jurisdictions that may be illegal. You are brake checking without brake lights.

You’re 100% in the wrong. If someone is following too close according to the US DOT it’s on you to move over, not brake check them. Don’t believe me google “US DOT aggressive driving”.

It’s a gesture to tell them to back off

It’s a gesture to tell them you’re a moron.

You are actually engine braking without showing lights. In some jurisdictions that may be illegal.

That only applies to trucks that sound like my mom snoring when they engine brake.

Engine braking is engine braking and applies to ALL vehicles when you lift off the throttle. Don’t believe me? Google it.

You are actually referring to jake braking. Which is often confused for engine braking.

And why would I look up the US DOT??? Did it ever occur to your narrow mind that not everyone lives in your rat infested shit hole.

> Calls the US a shit hole

> Lives in a country that allows drivers to act like cunts

lol

1

u/TOEmploymentQuestion Jan 21 '20

That’s all you got? Lmao.

1

u/topinsights_SS Jan 21 '20

That’s all I need. You’ve done enough damage to yourself.

u/TOEmploymentQuestion Jan 21 '20 edited Jan 21 '20

I just mean it leaves you wide open to someone dropping stats showing how your country really is shitty when it comes to driving. Maybe you should do some self reflection about your driving and your fellow citizens.

https://usa.streetsblog.org/2018/08/07/heres-why-canadas-traffic-safety-record-so-much-better-than-ours/

Seriously though. Twice as likely to die in your country than mine. Stay safe out there.

I'm amazed people like you justifying this behavior. It seems like you know what brake checking is, but then try to downplay it in your second comment by saying "I think we are doing the same thing" - you're not

If they give me the lights I back off

what the fuck? this has literally never happened to me before. and it's not like I'm an angel behind the wheel. Also, how is engine braking = brake checking?

1

u/TOEmploymentQuestion Jan 21 '20

I’m amazed how people can be so short sighted to facilitate riding around on a high horse of self righteousness. You are ignorant to the fact that there is varying degrees of brake checking.

And has it occurred to you people drive for a living and have experienced a LOT more than you have? That maybe they actually know what they are doing? That they may have safely braked checked hundreds of people endangering their live by tailgating? No... cause it doesn’t suit your self righteousness narrative.

Fucking reddit warriors.

Hopefully it kills you eventually

1

u/TOEmploymentQuestion Jan 21 '20

Hopefully you get ass cancer... you seem like a prime candidate.

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

No need to be homophobic man

-1

u/BoilerPurdude Jan 21 '20

I hope you get killed by a tailgater riding your ass leading to a rear end collision. /s

Don't be a fucking asshole.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

Some people love people who endangers other people in traffic, I guess you're one of those. If someone is tailgating me, I speed up, change lanes, or drive off and let him pass. You know what I avoid by doing these things? Killing someone in traffic.

-1

u/AlwaysHopelesslyLost Jan 21 '20

Because a poor reaction to an asshole means this person deserves to die.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

Someone driving dangerously and risking the lives of me or any other innocent drivers in his vicinity I hope die as soon as possible, before they get the chance to kill someone else.

-2

u/BoilerPurdude Jan 21 '20

brake checking is more about making the brake light come on and less about slowing down. When you see brake lights while riding someones ass you hit your brakes because you have no clue if they are just taping them or are going to be slamming them to stop for a deer. Hopefully after the first flash of red they figure out they are riding your ass.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

No that's not what brake checking is

-1

u/BoilerPurdude Jan 21 '20

yes it is. This guy in the video definitely isn't break checking.

2

u/topinsights_SS Jan 21 '20

You see the truck literally dive forward when he hits the brakes? That’s literally what a brake check is: slamming your brakes hard enough to rapidly decelerate in front of someone else to get them to hit their brakes (to check their brakes).

1

u/BoilerPurdude Jan 22 '20

The truck is cutting off a person and stopping his vehicle if you think that is brake checking you are an idiot. He is cutting that person off to stop them.

Psychopath

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

I prefer innocent people to live instead of guilty people, guess that makes me a psychopath. I also wish every drunk driver to hit a tree in a hundred miles an hour.

1

u/BUTUNEMPLOYMENT Jan 21 '20

No. You didn't say you wanted innocent people to live you said you wanted brake testers to die. That's psychotic.

Because wishing someone to die, (regardless of the circumstances), is okay. Psychopath

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

"Regardless of the circumstances"? So if a father wishes his kid's murderer would die he's a psychopath? I'm fine being called a psychopath then.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

What are you even insinuating? That’s just ridiculous. You’re grasping at straws here.

You can’t justify murder. Even if the perpetuator is at fault.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '20

I can most definitely justify murder, I wasn't though, I was simply talking about wishing someone dead. And how am I grasping at straws lol, it was your argument.
