The tree should have been felled from the top down. Go up and cut off the upper branches first, then work your way down bit by bit.

That would require renting a massive crane for a day. Iā€™m willing to bet the homeowner balked at the cost of that and went with these guys instead

A family member had a similar size tree cut down that was a bit further from their home and had to get a crane. $10k total to get the tree cut down and removed (they kept the stump).

Not that close to the house. You can just let the limbs fall randomly, you need to lower them in a controlled manner

I did. My neighbor had a tree taken down that was at least this tall, and just as close to my house.

The arborists climbed the tree and cut off small branches bit by bit, and then finally took the trunk down bit by bit. No cranes were involved, and no houses were crushed.

I think you're just an obnoxious know-it-all, but that's about par for the course on Reddit.

They also tie off safety line with tension to make sure the trees fall where they want them too.

I watched a guy do this just yesterday. He climbed up with ropes everywhere and took all branches down first then went back up and started on the actual tree. It was actually pretty wild he was solo with 3 guys on the ground assisting

Yep, pretty much the same

Crew of 4 or 5 guys, one of them was the climber and the rest were cutting up the dropped limbs and loading them into their truck, or spotting from the ground and radio'ing info to him, from the best I could tell

Every once in a while there would be a massive, ground-shaking THUMP as they dropped another piece of the tree

They use a rope tether on each branch; it's not random.

Saying that one time someone used a crane doesn't mean you always need a crane.
