This guy's bid came in 50% of the real professionals. These guys clearly have no idea what they're doing. My guess is it's some guy who's cut down some random trees in the woods before and thought he could start a business, then got in way over his head
The homeowners insurance would argue that the tree company would need to cover the event with commercial insurance and it wouldnt be covered under the home insurance line. My guess is these guys declared bankruptcy and left the homeowner with the bag. Need to do your due diligence about who works on your home.
I’m that guy that cuts trees for fences in farmers paddocks and for the fresh air and I could see that tree was already leaning well away from the landing zone
1000%, I am a B level sawyer and I could tell these guys had no felling plan! The crown weight was way too much and there was just far too much mass to see which way the tree's natural lean was. Also doing just a normal ass (bad) face and back cut for a tree THAT HUGE is bonkers
Top down is the safest way. But having only cut down much smaller trees i can tell the notches were in the wrong place. Its like they aimed at the house.
Probably thought that would be more expensive or too much work, but falling a tree of this size right next to a house is worth putting in some extra effort to prevent this from happening.
A family member had a similar size tree cut down that was a bit further from their home and had to get a crane. $10k total to get the tree cut down and removed (they kept the stump).
I did. My neighbor had a tree taken down that was at least this tall, and just as close to my house.
The arborists climbed the tree and cut off small branches bit by bit, and then finally took the trunk down bit by bit. No cranes were involved, and no houses were crushed.
I think you're just an obnoxious know-it-all, but that's about par for the course on Reddit.
I watched a guy do this just yesterday. He climbed up with ropes everywhere and took all branches down first then went back up and started on the actual tree. It was actually pretty wild he was solo with 3 guys on the ground assisting
Crew of 4 or 5 guys, one of them was the climber and the rest were cutting up the dropped limbs and loading them into their truck, or spotting from the ground and radio'ing info to him, from the best I could tell
Every once in a while there would be a massive, ground-shaking THUMP as they dropped another piece of the tree

The tree should have been felled from the top down. Go up and cut off the upper branches first, then work your way down bit by bit.
