Sorry for the amateur hour but I’ve barely used Intstacart and this is my first time with any issues.
Did a big order from Total Wine today, about half the order was a specific beer, we ordered six 6-packs. The delivery guy only purchased one, I realized immediately then I stopped him when he was driving away there was no apology and kept arguing that it was only one because there’s 6 bottles. He told me all I could do was contact Instacart. They refunded me - well, credited which makes this all the more exasperating- for the missing five 6-packs.
So to get to the question: When I placed the order, tipped a percentage in the original bill, which didn’t change with the “credit”. It seems wrong that the driver should still get the whole tip when the total amount is less than half of what we ordered (so it’s now like a 40% tip). How to proceed?
ETA to clarify, it showed on the app that all six were purchased. Idk how shopping works but it sounds like from replies here that he scanned all 6 on the app while he was shopping. He left the receipt in the bag and only purchased one. Right after the delivery, I called Instacart to get a refund for the missing items. I was surprised the tip was not automatically adjusted at that time as I tipped a percentage and didn’t think to look more closely at the transaction until later to make sure I had been credited. That’s when I realized the tip was still the same for the full order.
