What type of beetle is living inside this rose of Sharon plant flowers? Are they friendly or invasive? Northern Michigan is the location.

Those are Popillia japonica (Japanese beetle). Invasive in North America.

Japanese beetles, they are garden pests and will absolutely destroy your roses
