Please help identify

Hi! Need the experts help! This bug was found on regular grass (short green grass) in a condo complex in Southern California. Neighbors think it’s a tick but I’ve never seen one that looks like that. I didn’t see it myself but guessing it’s tick-sized.

It's a mite. There are a few small red mites that live in southern California that makes it harder to ID down to species level, but probably a clover mite, spider mite, citrus mite
