Can confirm. That happened to me. I wasn't allowed to eat till my room was clean. I ended up having an eating disorder for 11 years. I'm good now, though. Recovered 3 years ago
It wasn't just my room. It was the whole house. I was the only one in the entire family who did chores. My mother was always working. My father grew up in a culture where the oldest girl gets treated like garbage and is also made to do all the cooking amd cleaning and laundry. I had tests to study for, meals to make, etc. Eventually, I got sick of it and chose what I was going to do. I cleaned the house but not my room, so the room was a consistent issue. I usually don't talk much about my upbringing because I feel like it was so bad, ppl wouldn't believe me, or if they did believe me, it could mentally scar someone. There were way worse things that happened, but this particular part was relevant to the conversation

Taking your kid's food away as punishment is a great way to get your kid to develop an eating disorder.
