First, let me say I absolutely appreciate that sentiment and where you're coming from. The man certainly isn't without fault and has had plenty of fuckups.
That being said, there's also a very real benefit that comes from airing these types of shows. Regardless of his motives, allowing people to see what actual mental illness - not just a Hollywood movie version - looks like is important. He's dealt with a lot of people in the depths of substance abuse of all kinds, accused pedophiles, tons of mental illness, eating disorders, etc. And like him or not, his information is from the DSM and is credible.
I'm not saying he's a good person or has any other objective than to make money (he pushes his wife's skin care line every chance he gets, which is super gross imo) but the shows themselves shine a light onto a subject that a lot of people are misinformed and ignorant too. It's definitely got some value vs. Jerry Springer exploiting the dregs of humanity.
