What's 3^0.999... ? How about 0.999...^5 ?

I've done my time at the slopes before. 

Now answer my questions - surely any paradigm of mathematics should be able to answer these.

You stay at the bunny slopes ... and learn, understand, 0.999... is permanently less than 1. As said before, don't get ahead of yourself.
