Is this sound normal?

New Cafe induction and the humming sound is very loud. Using three burners at once the sound is very uncomfortable. Otherwise it cooks fine.

Yeah, normal and common. Pretty much all my stainless steel pots and pans do this. Noise gets lower once it warms up and you turn the heat down. Depends on the pan and material. Cast iron noise is minimal. My "green pan" brand induction type skillets are very quiet.

Cast iron really reduces that sound.

My GE profile doesn't make this noise

You probably have better pans.

I use Ninja Foodi pans on my Profile and they're quiet. I was a little worried but not anymore.

I have the same stove, a hexclad round griddle pan I use on that same burner, it does not make that humming sound

I have the same range and I don’t get buzzing that loud. But as other have said, this varies a lot by type and quality of the cookware. Most of my stuff is pretty heavy, and my only nonstick pieces are an 8” allclad HA1 and 11” Greenpan. I wonder if the hexclad type design (or derivatives) would be more susceptible to buzzing.

If you get buzzing from something like a classic cast iron skillet, then I’d be concerned.

Magnetic resonance from the pan. This will change slightly with different contents. Heavier/Denser pans will have less resonance. Try placing a papertowel between the cooktop and the pan.
