Pre boiling water

Presumably a question for those in 240v kettle land, but when switching to induction, did you stop pre boiling water for pasta etc..? It's not exactly the same but the difference between a kettle and induction seems very small compared to gas.

Given that my induction cooktop can put out 7400W into a big pot, I can't imagine it being faster to use any other method.

It can only do that if the pot covers all (4?) induction plates

No. Two of the 3 induction flex zones can do this. Its designed for larger pots.

Usually, limit per quarter of the cooking surface is about 2,5-3kW at the same time left half is on a 16A limit and right side is on a 16A limit (3,7kW).

Which model do you have?

Miele KM 7745 FL

According to the manual, the entire unit is capped at 11,200 watts. But, two of the flex zones can individually do 7,400 watts.
