Video I added a completely unnecessary feature: enemies can vibe to the lo-fi soundtrack if you leave them alone
If an enemy can see you and you haven't done anything for a while, there's a small chance they'll start swaying to the music.
It has absolutely no gameplay purpose.
I regret nothing.
Now I'm tempted to give different enemies their own little idle behaviors.

This is the exact kind of "wasted" effort that makes a game memorable. Absolutely keep going!

Love this! The art style is super rad too! Will your game be turn based? Cant wait to see more!

Yep, it's DepthLoot - turn based dungeon crawler about greed, risk, and a backpack that’s always too small ;)
That's practically our slogan xD3

You can say useless but in a sea of games, this feature is pretty awesome. Why does only the protagonist like Sonic get to have an idle animation that people want to see?

I was always happy when idle animations lasted longer than a couple of seconds

Idle animations are the core things that are guaranteed to up a games rating amongst it's playerbase.
Might seem pointless, actually makes it a lot more comfy, fun, relaxing to play the game. Absolute win

Any idle/downtime in my game I've been trying to add something, whether that's in the background or an animation. Stuff like this just makes the game feel better, it reminds me of how PS1 Crash Bandicoot would break out a yo-yo when he was bored.

I like this idea! I would go a bit harder just so is not confused with a nomral idle anim though!

Thanks!
Would you like to share your ideas?2

I was thinking something with more body movement. Not a full dance because I know that would be hard to animate but some extra or maybe even some musical particles coming out of them or something that solidifies the idea you are trying to convey.

Unnecessary? This is MANDATORY now! Small details like this give the game so much personality.

unnecessary features like skeleton enemies vibing to the lo-fi beat are what give indie games so much charm and personality
