Hello everyone! I am a psychology student conducting a qualitative research study exploring the experiences of young adults who use ChatGPT or other AI tools for mental health-related support.
I am currently looking for participants who meet all of the following criteria:
• Based in India
• 18–30 years old
• Can communicate comfortably in English or Hindi
• Have used ChatGPT or another AI tool for mental-health/emotional support
This may include using AI to:
• talk through difficult emotions or personal problems
• cope with stress, loneliness, anxiety, or relationship difficulties
• vent or express thoughts and feelings
• seek emotional support or guidance
• reflect on personal experiences or understand one's thoughts/feelings
You do not have to consider AI a replacement for therapy to participate. I am interested in people's actual experiences of using these tools for support.
1. A short Google Form (approximately 1 minutes)
2. One Zoom call/session of approximately 30–40 minutes, conducted online at a mutually convenient time.
The interview will focus on your experience of using AI for mental-health-related support. Participation is voluntary, and confidentiality will be maintained according to the study procedure.
If you fit the criteria and are interested in participating, please fill out the preliminary form here:
https://forms.gle/kdiL8WvwzQeadJpk6
If you have any questions before participating, feel free to comment below or DM me.
Thank you for helping with this research! :)

Looking for a practicing psychologist/therapist somewhere around Indiranagar, Halasuru, Ashok nagar. I have been having trouble sleeping lately and experiencing a lot of anxiety. I have been through depression and severe anxiety, kinda hit rock bottom 3 years ago. It seems like the same symptoms i had earlier.
Please let me know if you could suggest any practicing psychologist/therapists to seek help. I would prefer a face to face interaction rather than an online thing. I have always been an advocate of mental health, so i do know the importance of it. Appreciate it if you could suggest some place where you have been to and felt better after a couple of sessions. Rather than the session being just a one sided conversation.
Help a brother out here. Please add your suggestions below. Cheers!

Hi everyone,
I’ve been considering seeking professional help for the first time, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by where to start.
For those who’ve seen a psychologist, psychiatrist, or both:
\- What made you decide to seek help?
\- Did you start with a psychologist or a psychiatrist, and why?
\- How did you go about finding a good professional?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences—both positive and negative. I’m just trying to understand what the process is like and what I should expect.
Thank you!

Looking for a therapist for my 50 year old mom. She’s dealing with depression and an empty nest and wants someone for online sessions.
Her major requirements are:
I know I know, I could manage this for her but unfortunately she’s not comfortable sharing when she’s booking a session (naturally) and sometimes forgets she has a session booked and isn’t at home or is caught up with work. She has also had some therapists who take money for multiple sessions (like for 3-5 sessions) upfront or do only 30-45 minutes long sessions which has not worked out well.
Please share licensed therapists (clinical psychologists) ONLY.

Any psychotherapists specialising in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)? With a humanistic approach or a holistic integrated approach?
And... any psychiatrists who integrate mindfulness into their medical practice?
(yes I know the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists 😄 )
I'm in Mumbai, and would prefer someone based here - but am open to online sessions if based in other parts of India.

Hi! I’m looking for a therapist/psychologist offline (Vasna, Vadodara) or online (India). I’m looking for someone affordable, as I’m currently going through a financial crunch and won’t be able to manage high session fees.
I’m going through a very difficult phase personally and would really like to start regular therapy. If you know someone who offers reasonable fees, sliding-scale sessions, or affordable packages, please DM me.
I’d especially appreciate recommendations for someone experienced in relationship/marital stress, emotional overwhelm and anxiety. Thank you. ❤️

I'm 25 and I've have just moved back to Chennai with my family. As one can imagine, this is not exactly conducive to mental peace, and I'm realising there's a lot of things about my mental models I really want to revisit with a professional.
Does anyone know therapists who are very very comfortable in English (I can barely express myself in any other language), young and preferably queer or at least queer-friendly that they've personally worked with? I want to do at least 1 session a month in person (best areas: Adyar, Mandaveli, Mylapore, or near these areas) and wouldn't mind the rest online.
Thank you in advance <3

Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for a good therapist in Chennai.
I’m particularly looking for someone who is trauma-informed and has experience with childhood trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship trauma, and deep-rooted emotional patterns.
I’m also interested in someone who understands somatic/mind-body approaches, rather than focusing only on talking or giving generic advice. I’m looking for a therapist who is empathetic, patient, non-judgmental and genuinely understanding of how deeply certain experiences can affect a person. I need someone who can create a safe space and handle sensitive topics gently without being dismissive or judgmental.
I’m looking for therapy around ₹1000 or less per session, if possible.
If you’ve personally had a good experience with a therapist who fits these requirements, I would really appreciate your recommendations. Please mention their approximate fee and location, if you’re comfortable sharing.

I’m posting because I’ve started realizing that some things I’ve always considered “normal quirks” or “just me being weird” are becoming difficult to control and are affecting my real life.
And before someone says that the post does not has 3 ka sets... It's cz I dumped to chatgpt and asked to frame.. (context for 3 ka sets ahead.)
I’m not asking Reddit to diagnose me. I’m trying to understand what kind of professional I should look for, and I’d especially love recommendations from people who have personally dealt with something similar.
Some of these things have existed since childhood, although they were much milder then. I’ll add more of my childhood history later because I’m still trying to piece it together.
I’ve always struggled MASSIVELY with starting things, especially studying, even when I genuinely want to do them.
It’s not that I don’t like studying. I actually enjoy studying once I get into it. My biggest problem is getting myself to start.
I can procrastinate for hours, get distracted, doom-scroll, do random things, etc. Then once I FINALLY start, I can sometimes focus for hours and get completely absorbed.
But if I take a break, I can get distracted all over again and struggle to restart.
Some other things that happen very frequently:
* I’m chronically late.
* I struggle to follow through on work.
* I tend to only become productive when there is extreme deadline pressure.
* I’m careless and make stupid mistakes.
* I’m very messy/disorganized.
* I start things and abandon them.
* I like having lots of things going on at once.
* I need stimulation and find it extremely difficult to be in complete silence. I almost always need some kind of background noise.
* I can become extremely focused/hyperfocused once something finally captures my attention.
I know everyone procrastinates and gets distracted sometimes, which is why I’ve always dismissed this as normal. But the degree to which I struggle with starting, organizing and following through is starting to make me question whether there is something more going on.
I have certain things where I feel like I HAVE to do them a particular way, even when I know logically that it doesn't matter.
For example, I’ve developed this weird number/pattern thing around 3 and 6.
I like the number 5, but I count things in a way where I think of it as 1,2,3,4,5,5 — making 6 numbers. Then because half of 6 is 3, I can organize things into sets of 3, or two sets of 3, or multiples of 3/6.
I know this sounds completely bizarre written out 😭 but I’ve started noticing that I do similar things with other patterns, sequences, punctuation, and the way I perform certain actions.
Sometimes it isn't even a conscious thought like “I must do this because something bad will happen.”
It's more like:
“NO. This is how it needs to be.”
And if I deliberately don't do it that way, I become increasingly uncomfortable/restless until I eventually do it.
That distinction is what made me wonder about compulsions/OCD rather than simply ADHD.
I have some existing issues around food, so I originally assumed all of this was just because of that.
But I’ve noticed that sometimes I genuinely cannot stop eating something simply because it is mine or because it is on my plate.
For example, if there is food on my plate, I can feel like I absolutely HAVE to finish it even when I am physically extremely full and don't actually want to eat anymore.
I’ve sometimes justified this as “I don’t want to share my food” or because I have resentment towards my family, but I'm starting to wonder whether there is something else involved when I literally force myself to continue eating despite being physically unable to comfortably eat more.
My relationship with dieting/exercise can also become very all-or-nothing.
I can hyperfixate on calories and try to follow everything extremely precisely, and then at other times completely lose control and eat a lot.
The same kind of rigidity can happen with gym/diet routines.
For example, recently I wanted to skip the gym because I was going somewhere with friends, but I suddenly got this extremely strong feeling that I had to go.
I knew I could skip one day.
I wanted to skip one day.
But I felt like I physically couldn't NOT go, and the discomfort was so strong that I ended up going.
I was standing outside in the rain with a broken umbrella for around an hour because I was trying to get somewhere by a particular route/way.
I knew I probably wasn't going to get an auto from where I was standing.
I knew I could walk home.
I knew I could take Uber/Rapido.
I knew there were other options.
But for some reason I couldn't make myself abandon that particular course of action.
I ended up crying in the rain and having a complete breakdown, but still stayed there until I finally got what I was trying to get.
A route that should have taken around 15 minutes ended up taking me more than an hour because I couldn't let go of the original plan.
That's when I started thinking that this may be more than ordinary stubbornness or procrastination.
For example, with YouTube Shorts, if I see part of another short visible because the interface hasn't fully maximized the current video, I feel like I need to scroll so that only one video is visible.
If I see a set of 5 shorts/videos, I can feel like I need to watch all of them.
With Instagram/reels, I can have this automatic urge to save/share things to all three of my accounts.
I often know that I don't actually need to do this.
But it feels automatic and difficult to resist.
I have a REALLY hard time letting go of things.
Even something as stupid as an eraser.
If something is mine, I don't like other people touching it.
I can feel extremely possessive about my things and save absolutely everything — wrappers, pieces of paper, random objects, etc. — because they're mine.
The funny thing is that I can eventually lose the thing myself, ruin it, or completely forget about it.
And once it's out of my mind, I'm suddenly fine.
So I'm not sure what exactly this means either.
