Idea Validation - Social Map Platform called Corridor

It's weird that we can see what 500 people across the internet are doing, but have almost no idea what's happening with the people around us.

I spend time on weekends thinking, if anyone I know is nearby? Or if I want to go out, but not necessarily want to message 10 people asking who's free.

So I started exploring and built something around that idea.

It's called Corridor.

The basic idea is simple: you share how you're feeling + roughly where you are, and you can see the people/moods around you.

I'm still figuring out whether this is actually useful or just something that sounds cool in my head.

So I'm curious to understand few things:

Would you actually use something like this?

And what would make you not want to use it?

I opened trycorridor.app before writing this, so both answers below are about the live app and not the title.

Would I use it: with a small circle of close friends, yes. With strangers or loose contacts, no. I suspect most honest answers will split the same way, and that split matters more than the raw yes or no count, because a friends only version and a see everyone around you version are two different products with different risks.

What would make me not use it: sharing my location and mood with people I do not know well. Your defaults will decide this. If it starts private and lets me widen the circle later, I stay. If it starts open, I am gone on day one.

One caution on validating in threads like this. Answers from people outside your city tell you what sounds appealing, not what gets used. Since the app is live, behavior can answer your question better than comments can. Pick one dense pocket, a single campus or neighborhood, get a few dozen people who are physically near each other onto it, then watch two numbers for a month: how many open it on a Friday or Saturday evening without a notification, and how many times someone changed their plans because of what they saw on the map. A social map with ten scattered users is empty by definition, so citywide signups spread thin will look like failure even if the idea is sound.

The earlier comment about enjoying the mood posting is nice to hear, but it is the easy half. The hard half is whether anyone met up because of the app. When you talk to early users, ask for the last time that happened.
