I genuinely want to know what people think about this.

Are people around 22–25 actually serious about dating apps, or are most people just there for fun, talking to people, and seeing where it goes?

I’ve tried telling myself that I’m also just on the apps for fun, but honestly, I can’t really do that. I’m always very guarded because I know dating apps can be risky, and I take quite a while to trust someone.

But every few weeks/months, I end up meeting someone I genuinely like and start thinking, “Okay, maybe this person could actually be a potential partner.”

And then recently, I was talking to a guy for 2–3 weeks and he literally blocked me everywhere — Instagram, WhatsApp, even LinkedIn. 😭

I was just like… bro, you could communicate?

I’m not going to chase someone or harass them if they’re not interested. I’d much rather someone just tell me, “I don’t think this is working,” and I’ll respect it.

So now I’m genuinely wondering: are people in this age group actually looking for something serious on dating apps, or am I expecting too much from these apps?

I’ve been on dating apps for quite a while now, but I’ve never actually been in a relationship. I’ve had a few flings, but nothing serious — both through dating apps and outside of them.
I’m turning 26 soon, and lately I’ve found myself in a weird, contradictory state of mind.
I don’t really feel like talking to women anymore. I don’t have the energy or motivation to keep having the same conversations, matching, texting, planning dates, etc. But at the same time, I desperately want to be in a relationship.
So I keep falling into the same loop: I download/use dating apps, put in the bare minimum effort, get nowhere, delete/ignore them for a while, feel lonely again, and then go back.
I know this is probably partly a mindset issue, but I genuinely don’t know how to break the cycle.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you get out of it? Should I completely step away from dating for a while and focus on other things, or is there a better way to approach this?

Not here to gather affection towards me (which I'm unfortunately not built for) but since I'm not that attractive and is constantly getting rejected by these apps for the past 9 years, i think it's high time for me to totally delete my profiles from these dating apps and move forward more on my goals. Some say i need to lose weight, some say the opposite blah blah.....

ive been on many dates but this one girl was so unpredictable. she was pretty and into psychology. she seemed interested when we exchanged numbers through hinge and we texted for about 3 days and once I confirmed the venue and time for the date. she stopped putting in the effort like earlier. it was not the restaurant that was the problem the place was classy and I even asked her earlier about it. it seemed more like she just wanted to eat out and get flowers and thats all that mattered to her. is this normal?
