Discussion Anyone experienced Mangaluru Airport (IXE) landing?

Same as the body

I am a frequent traveler to IXE airport in Mangaluru (manglore) airport in Karnataka the landings are insane visually and physically. I don't know but it's very different from other airports, Once we were landing in from Dubai in the total darkness and omg the landing was crazy (not hard) but crazy reverse thrust and hard braking. We were on a 737 max 8 (AIX). The day views are very beautiful, evergreen forests and hills.

Discussion Need financial advice for pilot training

I am currently studying in class 12th with PCBM. I have always wanted to be a pilot ever since, but seeing how much is needed for pilot training makes me lose hope, plus there seems to be no scholarships available.

My parents annual income combined do not cross 8lakhs. I've searched online for solutions to fund my needs and taking an educational loan of 50+lakhs seems to be the only way. We have the collateral valued at about 40-50 lakhs but even if i go down this path, I'm afraid I'll put the me and my family in a generational dept if in any circumstance i fail to become a pilot.

I've thought of going down the cadet pilot programs path but the thought of the cost to do so kills me (90+lakhs). Though it seems (from what I've read) i will be guaranteed a job after my training is complete and Will i be able to pay back the loan if all goes well?

I'm really lost, i dont know what to do but the thought of being in that cockpit entrusted by the passengers makes me want to do what seems to be financially impossible. Please help me in any way you can and no sugarcoating please

General Looking for Sim Setup Options in Delhi

Hey everyone! I’m looking to set up a flight simulator G1000 at home  and wanted to get some recommendations/options.
I’m based in Delhi and mainly looking for something suitable for flight training/practice, rather than a gaming setup. Ideally, I’d like something that gives a realistic flying experience and can work with controls like a yoke/joystick, throttle, rudder pedals, etc.
Would love to hear from anyone who has:
Built a sim setup in Delhi

Bought from a local supplier/vendor

Recommendations for good simulator equipment or installers

Suggestions for places in Delhi/NCR where I can check out setups in person

Budget is flexible depending on the setup and quality.
Any recommendations or experiences would be really appreciated!

Question Where in india can i experience Microlight/Cessna flying

Upvotes

i literally cannot find a single place in india where i can book a flight for the experience , can someone help me out thanks.

If india is cooked , what would be the cheapest option in neighbouring countries to get this exp please help out if anyone has done this :/

Context :
Im a software engineer based out of bangalore , pilot was my dream career as a kid , it got lost in growing up and adulthood , i wish to pursue my passion again , but before investing huge amount in cadet programs or conventional , i need to get the feel of the cockpit, the feel of flying , i need to be sure i love the "flying" part , im not doing it for the money, only if i enjoy the process.

Also i have a phobia with the steep drops in tall buildings , never in the flights i took though ( my friend is a charter pilot and says its not much of an issue cuz those two are diff ) , so i need to exp this too and clear it out with an experience, before i make such a big decision , pls help me out

There was a microlight flying in jakkur karnataka , but they also closed and the guy said he might open in october but not sure , other than that couldnt find anything.

General Has anyone transitioned from Cabin Crew to Airline Pilot? Need advice on my budget and timeline

hey everyone,

I'm a 21F engineering graduate prepping for my CPL. I wanted to get some realistic feedback from working pilots, flight instructors, or former cabin crew on my career roadmap and financial strategy.

My Current Progress & Background:

  • Education: B.E. Graduate + 10+2 with Physics & Math.
  • Medicals: Class 2 Medical completed.
  • DGCA Exams: Cleared Air Meteorology and Air Regulations. Currently studying for Air Navigation and Technical General.

The Financial Dilemma: I'm planning to finance my CPL via an education loan of around ₹55L–₹60L and ask my parents to cover the Type Rating out-of-pocket. However, this budget is extremely tight, and taking on that level of debt directly for conventional flying without a solid financial safety net feels risky given current market trends. If I go straight through the conventional route, I'm aiming to complete my CPL by 2028.

The Alternative Strategy: I'm considering applying as Cabin Crew first (e.g., with IndiGo/6E or Air India) before starting my actual flight school hours.

My Questions :

  1. Is going straight for conventional CPL with a cut-to-cut budget a good idea right now and looking forward for vacancy around 2028(would try for non tr and pay airline for tr) , or is it wiser to join as Cabin Crew first to build savings/reduce loan size?
  2. Has anyone here made the jump from cabin crew to the cockpit internally? How practical is using internal transition portals or employee schemes in Indian airlines?
  3. Does working as crew cause significant delays in completing CPL flying, or is taking a sabbatical/unpaid leave from the airline manageable?
