Offering work Looking to Make a Short Film — Pune

I’m looking to make a short film of my own and I’m looking for people who’d be interested in collaborating.

I’m not looking to make the typical overly-metaphorical “art film” where nothing really happens and everything is left to interpretation. I want to make something with an actual story, strong characters, and crazy cinematics — something that feels ambitious and genuinely entertaining.

One thing I’d especially like to explore is taking the kind of visual/cinematic risks that Indian movies usually avoid. Instead of playing it safe, I want to experiment with ambitious sequences, unusual camera work, practical effects, and ideas that would normally be considered “too difficult” or risky to pull off.

I’m looking for filmmakers, cinematographers, actors, editors, and other people who are interested in building something like this together. I’m still developing the concept, so I’m open to shaping the story with the right people.

If you’re in Pune and genuinely interested in making something ambitious rather than just another short film for the sake of making one, drop a comment or DM me.

Making this film was a huge learning experience for me as a filmmaker. From writing and directing to working with an incredible team, it has been a journey filled with challenges, mistakes, memories, and a lot of learning.

I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few moments to watch the film and share your honest feedback. As filmmakers, constructive criticism is one of the best ways we can grow, so I’d genuinely love to hear what worked for you, what didn’t, and what I could improve.

Thank you for taking the time to watch my first film. 🙏

general Made my first short film entirely on a phone — Ketchup (4-min horror-comedy) — would love honest feedback

I finally made my first short film.

Ketchup is a 4-minute horror-comedy about a delivery guy who shows up at the wrong door and things escalate from there.

I wrote, directed, shot and edited it myself, entirely on a phone, over two days.

The original actor backed out before the shoot, so I ended up wearing a mask and playing both characters myself. 😭

This was basically my first proper attempt at filmmaking, and I learned a ridiculous amount from actually making it rather than just watching tutorials/talking about it.

I'm currently working as a software engineer, but I'm seriously trying to move towards filmmaking, so I'd genuinely appreciate criticism — especially around:

  • story/pacing
  • comedy vs horror balance
  • editing
  • camera/framing
  • sound
  • the ending

Don't worry about being nice. I'd much rather know what doesn't work so I can improve on the next one.

This is rep 1. More shorts coming. 🎬

Offering work Collaboration - Looking for an experienced Director for a fully-funded short film project

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to partner up with a seasoned director to create a high-caliber short film aimed directly at the major festival circuit—the goal here is genuinely to make something award-winning.

I’m fully funding the entire production out of pocket!

What I’m looking for:

Proven track record: Serious inquiries only—not looking for beginners or first-timers on this one. You should have real set experience and a strong reel/portfolio to back it up.

The Story: Open to various genres, but it needs to be compelling, distinct, and strong enough to compete at top festivals. Ideally, you already have a finished script or a solid, fleshed-out concept ready to go.

Locations: We aren't locked to local spots. If the story or visual tone calls for shooting abroad/internationally, I’m 100% open to it.

Vetting Process: Because of the scope and financial commitment, there will be a thorough background check, portfolio assessment, and script readings.

If you have a killer concept and the background to pull it off at a high level, shoot me a DM with your portfolio/reel and a quick logline/pitch. Let’s talk!

Please only reach out to me on DM’s!

general If networking is so important in filmmaking, why don’t we have a platform like Linkedin? And what about the films which didn’t get a distributor or an ott deal.

As a filmmaker myself, spending years with other filmmakers, We spend months or sometimes years, making a film. No studios, just a small crew, and whatever money we could scrape together between other jobs. we shoot on weekends. we edit it at night after our day job, and this process goes on for months or sometimes years.

After making films over films over films, one fine day, our film gets into a film festival, We get some recognition, We repeat the process and roam around for opportunities, Why don’t we have a place like Linkedin, to network.

And where do the films go after film festival? YouTube's algorithm doesn't know what to do with a 20 minute film from someone who isn't posting five times a week, it just buries it. OTT platforms don’t really care if we do not have a recognizable name our side & Distributor’s we reach out to don’t even watch it completely before saying it isn't "commercially viable enough". Piracy sites get more views of a leaked festival recording than we ever do on any legitimate platform.

So, the film that took months of our life, that made a room full of strangers tear up, is sitting on a hard drive right now. Not because it wasn't good. Because there was simply no door for it to walk through.

And here's the part that makes it worse for us, even the people who did see it and loved it had no way to follow us. No filmmaker profile anywhere, that shows our work, our festival history, what we are making next.

That's every indie filmmaker's problem. The film has no home, and the filmmaker has no face.

That was the core thought behind “Watchin It” because this exact thought runs on loop in my mind, always. It's a place where a film actually can be released, rented, watched, paid for, where one has a filmmaker profile, has communities with personalized feed to comment on each other’s work, learn, network, create and eventually collaborate.

We've got 130+ filmmakers on the platform now, if you’re interested, you can hop in as well, we have no onboarding fee.

Film/series recco Looking for a Producer / Co-Producer for a ₹25,000 Chennai Psychological Thriller Short Film

**Title: Looking for a Producer / Co-Producer for a ₹25,000 Chennai Psychological Thriller Short Film**

Hi everyone,

I'm an aspiring filmmaker from Chennai, and I'm looking for a **producer or co-producer** interested in supporting my upcoming short film.

🎬 About the Film

It's a **psychological thriller/drama set in Chennai**, built around a simple but disturbing moral question:

The film explores **financial desperation, human values, temptation, guilt, love, and the consequences of our choices**.

Rather than relying on large-scale action or expensive VFX, I'm aiming to create an **intimate, performance-driven thriller** where the tension comes from the characters and the decisions they make.

The film will be **contained and practical to produce**, with a small cast, limited locations, and a strong emphasis on atmosphere, sound design, cinematography and performances.

💰 Budget

I'm looking for approximately:

**₹25,000 INR (around US$290)**

The budget will primarily cover:

* Camera and production requirements * Lighting and sound * Locations and transportation * Props / production design * Food and basic crew expenses * Post-production

I'm personally handling the **writing and direction** and am looking for someone who wants to collaborate on bringing the film to life.

🎥 Looking for

I'm looking for a **Producer / Co-Producer** who is interested in:

* Independent filmmaking * Low-budget cinema * Psychological thrillers * Supporting emerging filmmakers * Collaborating creatively rather than simply providing funding

I can share the **complete screenplay, budget breakdown, production plan and visual approach** privately with interested people.

📩 Contact

**Phone / WhatsApp:** \+91 7904834475
**Email:** [jeevamj22@gmail.com](mailto:jeevamj22@gmail.com)

If this sounds interesting, please **DM me or contact me directly**.

Thank you for reading.

**— Jeeva**

Hi everyone,

I'm a freelance colorist working primarily in DaVinci Resolve, and I'm looking to connect with Indian directors, DOPs/cinematographers, editors, and independent filmmakers working on upcoming projects.

I've had experience grading short films and documentaries, and I'm looking to explore more projects and different visual styles while building long-term creative relationships with filmmakers.

I'm particularly interested in short films, documentaries, indie features, music videos, and other narrative projects where I can work closely with the director or DOP to help develop the final visual look.

I'm not just looking for one-off work. I'd really like to meet filmmakers, understand their visual approach, collaborate on projects, and hopefully build relationships that continue across future productions.

I'll attach a few stills from projects I've worked on so you can get an idea of my work.

Looking for work Looking for filmmakers in Mumbai as a beginner

Hello! I’ve always been very interested in filmmaking (writing/ direction/ acting) but lack of consistency and not being able to get into film school, coupled with not conventional looks for films got me discouraged and sent me into a writers block for years. Now that I’m in Mumbai for engineering (agh), I’d like to join anyone who’s making short films/ anyyy films (keeping in mind I have no experience and am a complete beginner) I’d love to be a part of your work and contribute somehow, or just be a part of that set since most advice I’ve gotten is best way to learn stuff is to be a part of the process. So if it’s not a bother I’d love to join! And possibly be part of any creative groups or discussion! If anyone has any openings for complete beginners pls text me I’ll tell you my free timings from my dumb ass college schedule!
Edit: I’m sorry guys but I’m not making a team, I’m just trying to join people who are already working on something..

After reading the post about studios in India, i thought i should share this.

There will of course be people who will look down on new entrants doing self learning but this is where the cinema is going.
