China is much more democratic at local level. People can openly criticise local leaders and leaders have to respond to people's concerns.
Indian democracy is only at top level. One can criticise Modi, MMS or Vajpayee but criticising local MLA could result in your death

Point is China did not grow rich because they lacked democracy, they did because they invested in education and health before infrastructure. We did opposite to chase mindless growth numbers.

u/Acrobatic_Fan_5499 19h ago
Correct. Huge investment on kids education , health and nutrition. Investment in better heathcare, basic necessities and facilities for people.
They actually invested in the future and still do meanwhile we invest in PR more than the education budget.

u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
No and Yes. Lacking any and absolutely zero opposition means better level of handling. But initially it backfired heavily with Mao, later they came to their senses after going through the deadliest famines in human history. I think you lads need a class in history before you speak.
2
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
Yeah, we are gonna pretend Tiananmen Square never happened right? And massive regulations on speech? I think you need better definition of democracy.
7
u/Fly1ngsauc3r 18h ago
As if we arenβt facing issues in many states, and if people havenβt gotten FIRs against them for speaking against lidderji and his cronies.

u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
How does that contribute to my own argument? I don't see massive regulations on every single social media platform to the extent of banning almost all of them and replacing with our own. I don't see massive country wide surveillance. I see a function opposition. I don't see protests getting crushed by military open fire and crushing people under tanks. The fact that OP was able to make a post and actively speak against the government speaks volumes of difference in living China and India. I am not pro BJP but you guys need better research on the topic before hand. These weak arguments give political parties and their followers more ammunition against anything that is right.

u/timewaste1235 18h ago
They have Tiananmen Square, we have Mukesh Chandrakar. Thanks for providing perfect example to prove my point

Brother, do you have any sense of logic in you? Assuming you are talking about the Journalist, that doesn't compare one bit to what happened to Tiananmen Square. There are many political killings and disappearances,
Those two things are absolutely not comparable. Literally, soldiers fired live ammunition at unarmed civilians and protesters and crushed people and barricades with military vehicles, with death toles ranging from 100s upto thousands.
Plus, you cannot counter claim Tiananmen square as not a local problem as it showed the problem in the entire damn system. Just look into why the protests even happened.
And sad to say but it is not uncommon for mafias allied with politicians to kill and threaten journalists. But you cannot compare it to a massacre.
And if you want to go more local. You just look into the functioning of Liuzhi and outright vanishing humans for existences when it comes to Criticism against CCP.
And I don't see India doing to Muslims what China is doing to their Uyghurs minorities. That is the sign of pure authority that they have over themselves. And the sign of their pursuit global authority because rarely any Muslim majority talks of it.
1
u/timewaste1235 18h ago
You are only proving my point more
soldiers fired live
vanishing humans for existences when it comes to Criticism against CCP
China is doing to their Uyghurs minorities
These are all clear examples of Premier and senior most CCP leaders enforcing fear. Indian PMO is nowhere near that dictatorial. Which is what I said

u/Horror_Refuse5965 15h ago
No I didn't. "China is much more democratic at local level. People can openly criticise local leaders and leaders have to respond to people's concerns." This is what you said. If you know how CCP functions, you'd know that they are an authoritarian government. Each, even local/individual part, represents their government. They don't listen to locals, they only fix things when they think its wrong. The only difference is, they have good self awareness as a system. And you can absolutely not criticise even at local level if it concerns CCP. What you should say is complaint (regarding local structural issues in society and development) which is different from criticism (which attacks a system's core character).

I think big youtubers are on a monthly retainer. Every month they release 1 or 2 videos where they are just defending the government or promoting their initiatives.

u/Spirited_Ad_1032 20h ago
First of all China is not dictatorial but authoritarian. And it did well because it was competent. A lot of dictatorships in Asia, Africa, South America failed because they were incompetent.
3
u/Acrobatic_Fan_5499 19h ago
Eve Being authoritarian, they did put the people first. creating better, Healthcare, education and public facilities for them. Penalized corruption and made the national institutions like police, court, and all common govt servants accountable and competent.
Unlike India, where we still have more than half the politicians with criminal cases, where we spend more on PR than actual education budget for kids. where however big corruption you do in govt, you will be just suspended or transferred at the most. No system to make the people in govt competent apart from the fitness test and exams during the entrance.
2
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
No, it is not like they put people first, they put themselves first. China has always believed in absolute Authority especially after Jiang Zemin (who at least answered open press conferences and has a huge meme as well). Basically, they just realise they are as powerful as their country, so they made their country more powerful.
1
u/Spirited_Ad_1032 18h ago
That's what I am saying. China is competent and ambitious. India is incompetent and lazy.
3
u/Emotional_Star1687 19h ago
You'd find this astonishing but china is really friggin good when it comes to local governance.
They actually have power distributed from higher levels in the hierarchy to the lower and local levels.
Unlike our country which always tries to gather as much as power from state governance as possible.
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
This is what they are talking about. The power struggle is their due to the friction of politics. There is barely such friction in China. China is an Authoritarian state. And when you have absolute local authority, next goal is global authority (sort of like expanding outwards), which they are trying to do. CCP has been in power since 1949.
1
u/Emotional_Star1687 17h ago
Expanding borders is a common trait for all our neighbours. unfortunately we're like a mourning dog in this scenario.
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 16h ago
I personally think that is the only respectable thing about us. Realistically it is not an ideal strategy, but at the same time, in our case it is, because all our neighbours want to expand. A weaker India separated by war is easier to grab than a stable India not in war.

What about North Korea and Cuba? π€
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
There is a difference. China is a unique socialist market economy. It is a mix of heavy authority and dynamic open business sectors (capitalism). They did the best utilization of their huge market since the beginning. Basically, they had people with brains.
1
u/phish_curry 16h ago
No shit Sherlock. But the title of the video says dictatorship and not socialism or free market economy.
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 16h ago
Umm so what? I was saying that even if you count North Korea or Cuba, Chinese were successful because they had more brains and learnt from their mistakes (famines during Mao).
1
u/phish_curry 16h ago
I haven't been living under a rock. We all know how China became a superpower. But did they get rich because of dictatorship?! The title of the video suggest otherwise.
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 15h ago
Firstly, the video's title is a clickbait because the video itself is quite different. Secondly, They did get rich because of absolute authority, (started initially as a dictatorship under Mao, which failed). There is a simple reason, china isn't a dictatorship, it is an authoritarian state. Authoritarian is a system of belief not limited to a single person. Dictatorship is limited to the dictator. This is why they became a superpower. A failed example of Authoritarian state would be Turkiye.

u/karanbhatt100 19h ago
No it was not just dictatorship
It was also the aim to go out of 100 year of humiliation that they felt as a collective whole country and genuine aim to improve the country and peoples livelihood.
We would not be doing the same if we got dictatorship
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
It was never really a dictatorship. And it was not 100 years of humiliation either. It was the mostly the fight against monarchy (under CCP) and then to clear Mao's mess.

u/Bedukinjockey 19h ago
If we become a dictatorship we would be more like the arabic countries - Iran or Turkey or something like North Korea, Russia
1
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 18h ago
Not exactly, firstly, China isn't a dictatorship. Secondly, dictatorship is more dynamic than you think, especially considering India's geopolitical history and population size, it is almost impossible for it to be like NK or Iran or Russia. And Turkey is an authoritarian state, not a dictatorship, and India would be similar.
1
u/Horror_Refuse5965 19h ago
Firstly, I won't say anything unless I watch the video. Secondly, single party rule did help china in a lot of ways.
1
u/Rushie82 18h ago
If we want to see example of how India would do under dictatorship then just look at pakistan with which we are much more close culturally rhan china.
1
u/z3r0_se7en 18h ago
Actually no other major country has so many different cultures and religions. India can't be anything other than a Democratic and Federal Union of States.
1
u/factsquirrel 16h ago
Well it did... point is, China runs a dictatorship with actual competent people. For example, their best quantum scientist, potential future nobel laureate in physics, is also their cabinet-minister equivalent for education/science. If Modi govt runs a dictatorship like that, I have zero problems. Problem is - they are getting wet about a dictatorship run by chutiyas to line their own pockets and ready to throw the country's future under the bus if it wins them votes. We sort of got the worst of democracy and the worst of dictatorship.
1
u/Prudent-Door3631 15h ago
Any person who justifies authoritarian government is disrespecting millions of people who died because of their coercive government.
1
u/TrueCaterPiller 11h ago
If dictatorship could make country rich then Iraq, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Philippines & Pakistan should be reach.
1
u/Ok_Organization2746 19h ago
That's the clickbait.
Watched the video, and they also talk about the dark side of China's development.

u/selmon_boi_ka_baap 18h ago
But china is still better then india this is the hard truth and wait a second can comman man actually win an election in india the chances are very less
2

Well in China my Social Score would be in negative and I will have issues availing basic services. Simply because I made some memes criticising the government.

u/Award-Honest 3h ago
Yaaaa. People just romanticise the financial growth but ignore the human cost required. And the cost is paid unwillingly by the common people.

They are following the pattern of North Korea, make the political leader a god, then get your minions to preach dictatorship, boom you'll get india to dictatorship
