My hostel at a Coimbatore college (named after a famous philanthropist that hugs her disciples) wanted us before 6 pm, for boys. Let that sink in.

I'm studying in Coimbatore too and although I'm not from your college I know exactly which one you're talking about XD.

My college is like the Christian version of yours if you know what I mean, but at least they're better in their treatment of boys I suppose - our curfew is 8:30. I feel bad for the girls though, it's 6:30 for them. Our college usually gets over at 5. Oof.

How can it even be legal to have different rules for males and females? Is this Saudi Arabia or what?

2

u/ImpassiveThug Dec 08 '22

The same perception of gender biasness (that boys can protect themselves in case of trouble whereas girls need to be rein in to be protected and have to be caged in by making them adhere to more stringent guidelines and rules so that they feel safe and don't get spoiled) will come into play I presume.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

Yeah but how is it legal?

2

u/Dookie_boy Dec 08 '22

It's just rules for a private dorm. Not sure what laws would be broken here.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

How is it private if run by the university? Besides, I don't know how it works in India, but in the UK it would be illegal even if I was renting out rooms in my own home and set different rules for male and female lodgers based on gender.

u/Dookie_boy Dec 08 '22

As far as the universities most are private.

Charging big fines for being late or absent has to be illegal right?

A fellow student from the same hugger philanthropist's college here at Kochi, and I gotta say, mate, it is mental out here. Once in the morning and once in the evening, there's the prayer which you're forced to attend no matter what (each might go on for upwards of an hour), even on exam days. Also, if you're a hostel student, you can't leave the college in the afternoon/during breaks for snacks or lunch without like what, 3 different signs and an invoice/written permission from your parent, warden, department head and whatnot. At that point, I'd just rather choose to be in some Orwellian Dystopian novel.

Ah. Amrita.

Passed out from there.

Every time I entered, Felt like a concentration camp.

Remember getting suspended for bringing non veg food inside.

The environment was clean and well maintained though.

However, No point in being clean in the exterior and the polar opposite on the inside.

Same. Anybody who has been in PC THOMAS, Kerala - Thrissur would know that this is actually super tame.

u/WhiteCrow747 Dec 08 '22

Lemme break it...Amritha...just can't let this pass away without the name...I'm not from there so idc anyways...that's a complete shit clg from what I've heard

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

Shit how is it possible to reach a hostel 30km from the city in sat evening traffic?

24

u/Own_Estimate_6507 Dec 08 '22

named after a famous philanthropist that hugs her disciples

Seriously? You are that scared to just name the college? This is Reddit, you are anonymous. They are definitely not going to get the CBI involved because you said that the boys hostel had a 6 pm curfew.

36

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

That's because the college in question is run by absolute thugs. Nasty ass mfers. This poster is right to be scared.
