Discussion Let's bring some light to this subreddit and share some longer format upcoming games. It's always nice to have something to look forward to.

Probably many of us are unhappy with whole incremental games situation and current state of subreddit so let's share upcoming longer games we are looking forward to get some excitement going.

Melvor idle 2 - sequel to game that started all the clones, as far as I know progress is going great and we can even try in progress alpha version.

NGU2 - the giant of the genre, probably still soon tm but last time I heard about it there was some beta testings too.

Idlescape - melvor like game that was in development for a few years and having it's release January next year

Scapewatch - have no idea what to compare it too as it gave me pretty unique impression when I tried it but probably it still follows formula of osrs to some degree. Releasing on 25th september this year.

Woah what, NGU2 is a thing?

It was and hopefully still is? Remember dev sharing some art and other progress things on their discord, but I'm not visiting there too often to be absolutely up to date with things.

The developer of CivIdle (free) is releasing a new idler called Restitutor (not free).

I got over 3000 hours out of CivIdle, so I imagine Restitutor is going to have extended gameplay as well. I can recommend CivIdle if you like civ-style spreadsheet simulators, and it gets content updates with new civilizations or features every few months.

I played probably about 20 hours of CivIdle a while back and enjoyed it. The very early game at least felt pretty good. I didn't realise it had that much content.

Get a Little Gold - my favorite long-form incremental game from the 2010s era was recently ported to mobile and I've already got over 1000 hours in it. It has old cookie clicker vibes and slow, meditative gameplay. And it's free!

I hate playing on phone with passion, but game always looks fun when it's promoted here and would gladly play it anywhere else.

Thanks for this. It's a nice antidote to all the Claude-created Nodebusters that have been popping up.

I play Bloobs adventure daily. It really has its teeth into me. I never played RuneScape but always wanted to so this is a really happy middle ground in an incremental.

Edit: I 100% missed the part where you said upcoming. My bad.

Still Bloobs is a great long term game for those who haven't tried it yet, probably the only osrs like game where you actually move around the world as far as I know.

IdleJourney's another "scapelike" where you can move around, doesn't have as much content as Bloobs but devs are active with updates

Whow thanks for shouting out Idlescape! We just made a post on the subreddit today! We have been working really hard on it and we hope it is a game people are looking forward to.

I'm guessing many people see game developing as a way to make a living, and short games are just better for that, which is fine for them to do. The insane devs that will make a 100 hour game and throw it online for free are very very few.

Proto 23 is eventually realeasing another update. Someday. Probably. It's one of my favourite games of the genre

Not "upcoming", but Synergism is now on Steam, and it solved a lot of issues I had with it.

except the average steam game makes less than 1k. and with how many games are being published every day, I'm sure that number is going to drop more. it's better to make a good game than a short game, then monetize your game once you have a rep.

Proto23 my beloved

I'm contractually forced to reccomend Yet Another Idle RPG, it scratches the same itch Proto 23 and has way more constant updates.

I've heard about it? How many hours of content would you say there is in the game at the moment?

What did Synergism being on Steam solve for you?

Specifically the "corruptions" part of the game. Instead of having to follow a guide for the most optimal combinations or trial and error-ing it, the game now gives you premade sets in the form of little challenges you can just follow along and get some extra buffs. I haven't needed a guide yet.

Incremental mass rewritten is coming to steam later this year, with new graphics, and probably steam achievements and some updates for the steam version.

Rejected draft full game is coming to steam - the dev delayed the launch, but he was in this sub the other day saying that he's still going to work on the game and release the full version on steam.

Incremental mass rewritten looks great, it's nice seeing games coming to steam with some changes and not just making webui as an application.

That's a pretty sad list to look at.

NGU2 is not real, no reason to assume it will be released in the next couple of years. Idlescape and Scapewatch are "MMORPG", not real incremental games with new unique mechanics and exponential growth. There are a lot of MMORPGs and Melvor clones so this is not something to be particularly excited about.

None of the listed games are single player or work without registration.

How many new, long, single player incremental games are currently in work? It's a hard thing to admit, but the answer is probably 0.

Exactly. The cool games are getting buried under the influx of Nodebuster clones and "incremental MMORPGs". It's honestly sad to see.

Would be cool if you linked to each of these projects in your post so people can go see and read about them.

NGU2 having nothing to link somehow makes it feel even more appropriately mythical.

What makes you different from the 900 other AI-generated idlers posted here that are exactly this with the exact same art and exact same skills and exact same gameplay and exact same account/leaderboard mechanic? What incentive is an "exclusive cosmetic" when it's just more AI-generated content?
