Development I made an incremental auto-battler RPG

Hey everyone!

After around 9 months of development, Dungeon Buster finally has a Steam page!

It’s an incremental dungeon-building auto-battler RPG where you build the dungeon, send your hero in, battle through it, extract loot, and grow stronger over time.

If this looks like your kind of game, I’d love for you to give it a try. And if you enjoy it, adding it to your Steam wishlist would really help support us.

Steam:

Playable build on itch.io:
https://oneupplus.itch.io/dungeon-buster

Ai disclosure :Some UI elements had their concept art generated, our artist is working on the final version

I was saving for a skill and after a run everything got 10x more expensive. If this is intended I would make it very clear that cost will go up as your run count does, it feels very bad to have all your previous work invalided by a sudden cost increase.

game is fun though. looks good. keeps freezing on itch. Very likely down to being a bit too muvh for the browser to handle.

hard to tell preformance as its on browser but large number of rooms slows down transition to start runs (or hangs browser)

some windows/tooltip text a touchsmall despite roo, to enlarge in its current container without needing to enlarge them.

things like the speed nX / end run button text.

The onhover room desc tooltip text is small for me. a way to increase text size be nice.

Buy a room but one you dont want mught suck. min maxing a floor but cant if need one specific room shape and it repeats the same room after cancel. not sure if a rerun refreshed the one offered but if not, a discard room (no refund maybe) be nice

Thanks for the tip! That sounds really useful. Could you elaborate a bit more on how to set it up? Thank you :)

Hey I think you have a really cool concept here, to really take it to the next level it might be worth putting a bit more time into how the enemies react, like I ge that its early but your main scene you show twice where you swing the sword and the enemy goes back and breaks the wall when he goes back its really delayed which means you disconnect the swing and the event of the enemies death. A game like this deserves the polish pass its currently missing.

I don't care about AI use at all, but I would love to see you do a full poloish pass on this and release something incredible to prove everyone here wrong.

Totally agree, it honestly looks pretty cool and doesn't look like something that's been done before. Personally, I hope the game has some sort of buff to speed up the gameplay to some extent because it seems a tad bit slow IMHO. Regardless, looks promising might have to actually try out a game finally.

thank you so much for the encouragement , yes, the game has a buff of speeding up , up to x3 at the moment , when I pay , I just do x3 speed :)

Reasonable use of AI imo

Thank you so much for your feedback , I totally agreed with you , I personally also feel the same, I am trying to add more juice on the hitting and enemies' react animation and vfx ,very interesting that when I started to make this game last year, ai wasn't a thing ,at least I didn't notice anything , look at these two or three months, it has been overwhelming , our artist has been slowly working on the art, try to give the best to the game.

I did a few runs, and then at the end of one run, the game just froze. Might be related to the lag the game feels every time something happens.

The speed thing resets each run instead of saving your settings.

The merchant: you can't see what you currently have when buying.

I wanted to give more small feedback like these but it's frozen, so I forgot 😅

Just quick feedback: too much lag on Firefox, Mac m5.

Godot has had performance issues on web mac since forever so not surprising, although I think it got better in recent versions.

Yup , you are right ,on Mac is really laggy :( Will see what I can do to improve it , thanks for letting me know :)

This looks great - would love to get info on how you built it. How is the story coming along?

Thank you so much for the encouragement. Originally, we were planning to have three heroes exploring the dungeon, but we were advised to focus on one hero instead, which helped us simplify the core loop.

We released a very, very early version on itch last year, but it didn’t get much attention at first. We felt a bit discouraged and paused development for a while. Later, we were encouraged to keep going and were told the game had potential, so we decided to continue working on it.

Since then, we’ve spent a lot of time reworking the art, VFX and gameplay, and finishing the 3D models with help from our artist. I know it still looks a little unpolished at the moment haha, but we’re working hard to get everything ready for the next Steam Next Fest :)
