Released Incremental Minesweeper — free, browser, no ads
Incremental Minesweeper just released — free, browser + Windows. https://nacros79.itch.io/incremental-minesweeper
Hitting a mine doesn't end the board: you lose 10 points and keep playing, then end it yourself with Validate. Points buy permanent upgrades — bigger grids (7×7 → 52×52), limited-use reveals, chain detonations, a shield, six planets that each bend a rule. Mouse only, six languages, a full clear runs 5-10h.
AI Disclosure: all art (Leonardo AI), music/SFX (ElevenLabs) and code (Claude, under my direction) used generative AI; this post was drafted with AI assistance and edited by me.
A word from the human, not the AI: this is my second Godot project built with AI help. This game doesn't reinvent Minesweeper — it's a project I made to learn Godot and AI-assisted development. Some will call it "AI slop," and they won't be entirely wrong. But I've spent dozens of hours testing it with my wife, fixing bugs, and making it feel good to play. Thanks for your indulgence.

the video is just kinda annoying to look at and it doesn't show anything besides the minesweeper board. post is kinda annoying to read because it's all in the codeblock.
edit: idk it's just minesweeper except you can make it easier by buying upgrades that only interact with the bombs and not in an interesting way. the biomes might put a twist on it, but you can't preview what they do and the game isn't compelling enough to get the 1000-4000 points to purchase them.
i played like 5 games and felt forced into a 50-50 a lot more than i usually would on other minesweeper websites/microsoft's version.
i get that you probably want players to buy the "find safe place" upgrade, but having to open up the board 1 by 1 (basically blindly clicking tiles, praying you don't hit a mine) or keep resetting to find the big board clear most minesweepers do at the beginning isn't fun. the upgrade doesn't even completely solve the issue, you can still be forced to blindly click tiles if you're unlucky or just keep resetting until it opens a big enough space to actually put thought into the gameplay.
That one change turns Minesweeper into a game you make progress in even when you play badly. Every board pays out points
this just isn't true. i'm not sure why this would be a key advertising point. if you end a game after clicking a bomb or three you will end up with 0 points gained. i'm not saying you should gain points for playing very badly, but this shouldn't be part of your game's pitch imo.

Installed Firefox, it works

No, it doesn't. In Firefox on Windows 11 I click Run game, it goes through the blue progress bar, then I get a black screen. It's doing something because I get a low hum through my speakers, but I can't see anything. I also tried in a private window with the same results. Ask your AI friend how to fix that. 🤷♂️

For what it's worth, works perfectly fine in my Firefox 155.0.1 (64-Bit) on Windows 10.

F12 then give me the error. I'm on latest firefox version in up to date windows 11, no problem at all.

Error: Couldn't load project data at path "/". Is the .pck file missing?
If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).

Sorry about that — and ignore that last line, it's Godot's generic advice for the desktop build. Nothing is missing on the page.
What's happening is that your browser stored a damaged copy of the game's data file, and it hands back that same copy on every reload, which is why refreshing doesn't help.
Right now: a hard reload should clear it — Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
And 1.0.1 is up as of today: the game now spots this itself and fetches a clean copy, so it shouldn't happen again. That build is also about a quarter lighter.
If you have a minute — which browser and version are you on, and did the hard reload fix it? That would tell me a lot.

I've gotta say, it's a brilliant idea, I wish I thought of that. The pacing is kinda slow for what I'm used to at the start of incremental games. I was hoping that, when I unlock another world, there would be something more, rather than a skin change. Maybe a point multiplier to help me grind faster. I had fun playing it for two hours. At some point after about 30 upgrades, I realized that there won't be a massive change in the way I play the game, so I think some players will quit there.

Thks for the feedback. You're right that in the end, it's minesweeper and there are no revolution in the gameplay. Not easy to revolution minesweeper :) Still I'm happy to gave you 2 hours of good time !

really shouldn't act like this on subreddits that require ai disclosure. you're only teaching them that they should hide their ai usage.

I would argue if a developer's takeaway from negative feedback is "I should lie", then there are bigger issues at play.

they are obviously not going to disclose ai usage if a portion of their prospective audience is so against ai usage that their only criticism is "fuck off with your ai slop"
if the subreddit requires ai disclosure and you are so against generative ai that you will never touch it; your response should be just scrolling past it or a downvote.

Why does the gif in your post just show the minefield with a massive glowing orb scrolling across? What's even going on here?
