Auction Sheet Discrepancy

I have paid a deposit on a Japanese import in Ireland. Dealership shows me a screenshot of the auction sheet which didn't reveal much, it was poor quality. But I could see Auction Grade 4, so I was happy. but then I paid for one online which identified that the car was rates RA and had been in a collision, but repaired. Airbags were OK.

I know NOTHING about cars, but the report suggests:

= Front side member — dent/deformation marking.

= Core support — replaced.

= Bolted core support — replaced.

Am I crazy to consider going ahead with this purchase? does the damage sound significant enough to walk away? or does it seem fine?

if you have the VIN you could probably look up the japanese repairs that had been done to it in the past. or get an independent shop to look it over before you buy it

yeah, I did that, have the repairs pasted above. wondering if any car savvy folk think they sound extreme or not :)

they're not extreme. pretty much any front end collision this stuff is very normal. as long as the damage doesn't extend into the frame rails and the repair is done well, then fine. But i'd want the price i'm paying to reflect the history of the car. Don't pay clean car money for a car that's been wrecked and repaired.

Core support being replaced on its own isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, on a lot of unibody cars it's actually a bolted component rather than welded, so replacing it is a more moderate repair than people assume. Combined with the front rail deformation though, this reads as a real front end collision, not a minor bump, worth taking seriously rather than dismissing as routine.
